A prayer for Bears...

I'll be praying for the Saints, and actually, have no interest in a Bears vs Patriots superbowl. I think if thats the outcome I'll be skipping it. I'm super tired of the Pats and Indy too. Boring.

I was raised a bears fan via my father who grew up a bears fan as Indy had no colts back in the day. However, being a native born Hoosier and a huge fan of the technician that Manning is, I must also root for the Colts. That means that this SB might be THE greatest SB for me in my life. However, if it comes down to the Pats and the Saints? GO BIG EASY!!!:D

Anyone but the Patriots. (I'd kind of like to see Peyton get the Super Bowl monkey off his back.)

Thanks to all of you who had faith in the Bears. Your reward will come in the afterlife. Unless you had a Chicago bet on todays game.:D

You Bears won. The better team to be sure. Congrats.

Thank God the pats lost.

Thank God the pats lost.

That is the most important fact right there, Andy. NO put up a great fight. Congrats on what they have done, and lets hope for better luck next year.

I don't know what to do with myself. My AFC team is facing my NFC team:D Leaning toward hoping the bears win. Good ol' fashion smash-mouth football. However, i would like to see Manning get himself a championship ring. Hell, even Ditka thinks he might be the best QB of all time:eek: That is saying a lot in my books.

Go Colts! Go Bears!...I might just have to close the shop down the monday after:D

Jake

I go to college in Boston, but was born in Chicago. Go Bears! It's been far too long...my dad has a poster from when they last won...good times.

I can't pull for Grossman. He was a gaytor.

Go Manning.

I can respect that. However, i doubt most watch the bears to see Grossman flub passes and flounder the ball while basically being hot or cold based on the day, game, mood, and temperature:D I'll give him this. He was performing well last night. Still to me he is a statistical outlier looking for a distribution.

When you watch the bears, you watch for this guy:
w_urlacher_412.jpg

Urlacher is a bad man without the bad attitude that so many NFL players seem to have. Nothin fancy, no show boating. He simply wants to run you down and crush the life from your bones...then help you up, dust you off, and give you a pat on the rear:D I can think of no greater defensive threat than a very strong, fast linebacker that will not only blitz up the guts but was classically trained as a defensive secondary (skilled in the angle of attack on a running ball carrier).

I think Coach Tony should make every one of his receivers and ball carriers tote around a football tucked tight to their sides for the next 2 weeks. Those Bears like to strip those fumbles.

Well said, Jake. :D

Glad the teams that won did.

2 weeks...

great offense verse great defense.

The game may be decided by the mediocre offense verses the mediocre defense though.

So far, no one has run for 100 against the colts in the post season yet.

I like Manning better than Grossman, and Dallas Clark has that Novacek thing going on. he was the real key to the 90's Cowboys. You couldn't cover him, and Emmitt, Irvin, Etc, all at the same time.

Hope it is a good game.

Go Eagles '07!!

I have to admit it, Tom. Rex is hard to like, and Peyton is a real charmer. That said, even the Chicago sports pages have given Rex a very rough time this season, but he has gotten us this far - despite his erratic performance and all the disparaging bloviators. We'll see what happens, eh? 2 good-hearted teams for a change :=)

I'm with you.

I don't dislike Grossman, and I hate to see anyone abused so much.

I love to see the know it all pundits wrong. That's why I usually root for the underdogs, unless I have a more compelling interest.

I hope everybody plays great, and no one has to suffer as a goat.

Based on seniority though, I hope Manning gets his this time.

However, I'm sympathetic to you Bears fans. I'm not sure, with that defense and special teams, that they should be 7 point underdogs.

OTOH, you guys have a bunch more titles than Philly recently!!

We'll probably have to go through Chicago next year! I don't see why they won't walk through the north again.

Maybe I should hope you guys get it now after all...

Tom

PS, as a former Carolina resident, I like Mohammed. The Panthers may have cost themselves a superbowl by letting him go. The Seahawks shut down Smith, but No one else could do anything. Mohammed would have likely had a big day, and maybe the Panthers beat the Stillers..

Who knows.

Maybe Deion Branch catches a few balls for Brady yesterday, if he was still around.

Glad to see "THE SYSTEM" take a hit. Life is about people.

Mild rant over!

:D

i'm rootin colts. i didn't know who to root for last night but it was an insane game. i did know that i wanted the winner of that game to win the sb.

remember that episode of family guy with tom brady? hilarious.

Will they bring back the SuperBowl Rap?!?!?!?!

Please oh please say they will!

I believe you mean the Superbowl Shuffle;) If i am remembering correctly (and please understand that I was all of 4 or 5 years old when this came out:o ) the Bears actually recorded the Shuffle before the superbowl. The 85/86 bears were that damn good. Actually, that particular superbowl is considered one of the worst games to watch since it was pretty lopsided.
Anyway, ask and you shall receive. Gentlemen, I give you The Super Bowl Shuffle

Jake

edit it add: RIP Sweetness:(

Thanks for posting the Shuffle. Indeed it did come out well before the game. It was only a fun game to watch if you'd suffered through a zillion bad Bears seasons. :D
