Some of you may remember this thread: (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...nives-Lost-You-May-Want-to-Look-Post-47/page4).

I started it to allow any of you who have lost a knife a chance to share. Well, the generosity of the forum provided two knives to replace the one I lost. I still have those two today and carry them often. Thank you again to those 2 gentlemen.

To make this short, the knife I lost was found. Laura and I are in the middle of moving. While we were packing up my daughter’s play area I found the knife tucked inside one of the toys. I really thought she threw it away.
So as promised here it is for someone to win as stated in the thread. I will annouce a winner in a couple of weeks.

Here are the rules for the giveaway.

You have to do two things:

1. I have always liked the idea of the “grandpa” knife. I may have had an idea of the one I associated myself with the most, but after asking my wife which one she really pictured as the future “grandpa” knife she picked this one.

I simply want you to ask those closest to you which one of yours they associate as YOUR knife. The one that would carry that meaning when it is handed down. You may be surprised unless you are Todd Isa 53 :D Then, post a pic, or tell us which one it is.

2. Since this GAW started with the loss of something, I also would like you think about what is the one thing in your life that you cannot lose? The answer, “your life,” is not an answer. So, while you are living, is there one thing in your life that you cannot lose? No need to respond or post about it. I just like to be an agitator of thought sometimes. Plus, if you can answer this question, it would be a pretty good foundation to build your life on, since you cannot lose it. Again, since this question does not pertain to knife content, no need to respond in this thread.

*** If you are on my friends list you may enter twice. You can simply put “my second entry” in the second.
**** I ask that you have at least 100 postings in the traditional knives sub-forum and or be a regular here in the traditional section. I have been around long enough to know who is not.

I’m also doing this GAW as way of saying adios for now. My plate has started to overflow And, with my new baby girl on her way soon, I do not for see much time in the coming days that I will have the ability to peruse or contribute to the community of this wonderful porch. Thank you for allowing this newbie a chance to sit, listen, and learn. You all are wonderful. Except for Primble, someone really needs to teach that guy how to take pics.:D

I will be receiving two knives from GlennBad and will certainly show his work when they arrive. I have no doubt they will be worth posting. Until then, continue to be good to one another and if anyone finds that freaking elusive Tidioute 735109 non-liner lock in smooth white bone grab it for me. :D

Thank you for the cutlery lesson and above all the friendship.

Not an entry Brett, but I would just like to thank you for all you have done for us in the short time you have been here. I hope you can stop by once in a while and say hi.
Best of luck on your move and the coming arrival of your baby girl.

I will do my best to help Primble with his photography so you can rest easy. :D

Kind Regards,

Mark

I'm not eligible, as I don't regularly post in the Traditionals Sub-forum, but I liked the idea, so I wanted to post anyway.

"My knife" as far as my wife is concerned is my T2, and it is my favorite

But the really special one that will be meaningful when I pass it on is the one my Grandfather gave me. It's the K. Tragbar on top in this picture:

That knife has been a great knife for me since I was a boy.

Brett - beautiful knife, but not an entry for me as I'm fortunate to already own three Conductors, so it would be better for someone else to win your very generous GAW. I did want to wish you well though. I'm sure it's an exciting and busy time for your family. You're one of the good guys, and you'll be missed. Take care and get back when you can.

This is the knife my wife picked when I asked her which knife made her think of "me". It's not what I would have chosen but it's interesting that she did lol.

Brett, you'll be missed on the forum but I understand how hectic life can get with a move and baby!! We wish you all the best. I know I'm new to the porch:o but if you feel I qualify, please count this as my entry:)

God Bless,
Ryan

Not an entry...

But I'll play along. I'm technically not eligible since I don't have 100 posts in total - let alone in the traditional sub-forum. Still, I love traditionals and this one is my "grandpa" knife, a GEC #81. I love it because it reminds me of the knives my grandpa carried (which I hope to receive from my mom soon). Sorry for the crappy pic, but I haven't had a chance to do a proper photo shoot with it.

The one thing I can't lose is my integrity. It has gotten me where I am today and shaped me into the man I have become.

Awesome giveaway. Man, you guys really know how to make them. Extremely generous, as that is a grail knife in my book. Also, your wife has impeccable taste in knives.

I am pretty young relative to most here, I think, and spend most of my time on a college campus. That means people don't see my knives all that often. However, on several occasions family members have called my Bradford Cutlery #23 Single Shot Trapper "my knife". Coincidentally, I have the smaller #73 version that I plan to hand down once (I guess "if") I have a son. I'm also hoping to get an ivory French Kate to pass down if I have a daughter. Maybe it's early in life for me to think about that kind of thing, but oh well.

I know you said we didn't need to discuss it, but I'd like to say something short about things in life that you can't live with out. There was something I thought I couldn't live without in my life. I took it for granted and it's no longer part of my life. No one should live with regret over their actions. I know many of you have lived a lifetime and are much wiser than I am, or maybe ever will be, but please keep the things that are important to you in mind.

Not an entry!

Enjoy the little one, I had my first child, a girl as well, 8 months ago. I'm actually in the process of making the knife I hope my kid(s) will associate with Me.

Good luck everyone!

My son is about to turn 3 and since he keeps close watch on everything i do and put in my pockets I asked him which knife he thought was my favorite. He then ran into the next room and brought back my Queen Dan Burke small barlow. I started thinking about it and I probably tend to carry and use that knife more than any other. Nothing slips by that little guy.

I asked him if he wanted it when he was older and he said no, he wanted a ninja turtle sword. Fair enough.

Not an entry for me Brett. I have already been the recipeant of your wonderful generosity. Others should be allowed to also experience it first hand. I wish you and yours all the best and I will miss you during your absence. It is an honor to call you a friend. God Bless!

Brett, I'm a sucker for this format of Conductor. Your presence on the forum is always appreciated and yet I understand the need for a hiatus...exciting times :)
The knife picked out by my significant other is, perhaps unsurprisingly, this one.

I like your thought provoking points in the original post and will be thinking about it for a while...thanks for the chance and best of luck with your new exciting family chapter :D

You all are wonderful. Except for Primble

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I am on your friends list Brett !!!

Just for that I will be entering your ole GAW !!! :grumpy:

I will have to sleep on what my entry post will be (maybe a hundred full rez knife pics to clog your ole GAW thread all up):confused:

:D

Thanks so much for the gaw, and so glad that you found that knife! Well, my wife and three little ones all agree--this is my knife... a GEC #42 trapper (#13, I was born on Friday the 13th), w/ Cocobolo:

Good luck to all, and especially all the best to you and your family.

I just asked my wife this question, and she said these two knives. This picture was taken right before castrating some cows with them!

I also bought one two more of the smaller ones, and gave them to my father, and my wife's father, with instructions to pass them on to my own boys when they are older. Both my boys will get a knife from each of their grandfathers.

(of course I have given plenty of knives to my own father, and have a handfull from my wife's own grandfather, and some from my own grandfather that I will also pass on when they are a bit older!)

Thanks for the giveaway Brett. I'm in.

This is my grandpa knife. It was handed down to me from grandpa. It still gets lots of pocket time to this day.

Not an entry.
Just a reminder that readers are welcome in addition to posters. Reading doesn't take as long as writing a post.
