A question for long time knife buyers.

I use big blades most of the time so i am sticking to that, in fact it's getting bigger in size.

On EDC i tend to look into lightweight, ease of carry and classic/non tactical look.

I have now begun to avoid the 3-3.75 inch blade range completely and now only blades ~2.5-2.7 inches and 4+ inches.

mostly a bit larger for me-

For a long time I was carrying a mini-afck, then a Benchmade Leopard, then a mini-griptilian. When I started buying new knives I was buying knives like the Benchmade 581, Spyderco PM2, Manix 2. Today I was carrying a Spyderco Military.

I tend to stick with 3.5 and above. It has to be a really interesting knife for me to consider it, if it smaller than that.

Where I live anything over 3.5 inches has to be open carried so I go for 3.25 in (cuz cops can be dicks) for carry knives to big ass ones if Im not keeping it under my shirt, like have to make sure it hangs below my tshirt so 10 in oal.

It depends on the day and task I have in mind. I can live with a 3" blade in town, a 3 3/4" hiking/ skinning and a 7" blade if I'm trimming brisket or quartering a deer or opening a watermelon. DM

I have a different angle on this very good question. I used to search for and carry what I thought was the "perfect" mid-sized, do-it-all folder. Now carry a larger folder, but I pair it with a small fixed blade. The small fixed and large folder offer so many more capabilities than just a single "perfect" folder (or fixed, for that matter). Here's an example pairing (Endura 4 FFG and LT Wright Patriot):

Of course, I'm talking EDC here. When it comes to woods blades, I go with either a larger blade (e.g. BK-9) or a small axe. Either way, I'll still have a large folder and small fixed on my person.

My preferred blade length is 3.25-3.75 so I tend to stay mostly in that range. Only exceptions have been two spydercos, Native 5 and Chaparral 2, which are carried as backups or dress knives. Size has remained fairly constant...price has gone up.

The main change in my knife buying over the last 40 years is larger price tags. The size isn't as important to me as much as the steel and design, if I like it I buy it.

Random, I only carry very small knives though. That won't keep me from buying a fixed blade with a 6 inch blade though.

I used to only buy huge knives. My taste has changed and I generally only like knives with a 3.5 inch blade or smaller. However I did just buy a CRKT Fossil and it's huge lol. And I'm getting a Spyderco Tuff and Southard. I like a mix of both smaller and larger knives, however I like a lot of knives in the 7 inch to 7.5 inch overall range.

I tend to be all over the place. My last 2 purchases were a Case Sodbuster and a Swamprat Rucki. Opposite ends of the spectrum.

I generally tend to choose larger instead of smaller.

Tools more than single fixed or folders. SAK, multitools, scythes, axes, etc. A few knives lately, but smaller. Going for things I can comfortably carry when working horses, teaching riding, and working around the farm. My big blades get in the way.

My tastes have shifted toward knives a bit larger than say 4 or 5 years ago. Back then I would often carry a 707 Sequel or a BM-HK 14210. These days I like the Spyderco Titanium Military , Yojimbo2 (S90V especially), Sniper LPC and Manix2.

I've always bought, carried, and used small knives. I consider a 93mm closed Victorinox a large knife to be carried in the belt. My 108mm Vixtorinox are huge for me. Slip joints for my pocket are 2 7/8" closed.
