  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

a quick overnighter

Cool.. I like your bivy! I'm kind of in the market for a smaller tent or large bivy. Do you know how much that one weighs? Weight matters because I usually backpack when I camp.

Ray,

It says SIX POUNDS!

But-

My friend has one and unless the camo is WAY heavier than the regular my friends weighs something like 2 lbs 6 oz or something.

I think it's a typo.

The only thing you have to watch for is even though it's a double wall tent due to the small size if you get a lot of rain or cold weather you will get some condensation.

i have one in OD green and it is no where NEAR 6 pounds. probably 2.5-3 at the most.

Gotta be a typo. Mine weighs no where near 6 lol!! 2lbs 6oz sounds exactly what mine is.

True on the condensation in rain. Ive never had an issue when weather is clear though....

thats why i like using the siltarp in combo with this bivy. it allows me to leave it a little bit open to prevent condensation in the tent without being overly exposed to the elements.

i will have to post pics of my setup at some point :D

using an adventure medical heat sheet blanket as a ground sheet and a silnylon tarp for an extended roof with a foam sleeping mat and a 0 degrees sleeping bag is how i normally sleep for spring-summer.

if its warm outside i'd rather take my henessey hammock.

I like the pics of the fire. They always brighten up my day. How does the bivy work for you?

Alright, nice little trip man, it's always nice to get out and do a reboot on the old brain.

Gotta love the pipe too.

Good stuff man, thanks for the pics. I like that you've got just the one fixed blade to use, I'm jealous of that in an odd way.

Nice Casa Jake!

Thanks bro!

I love it. It is suprisingly roomy on the inside. I used to do the hammock thing, but I get a little motion sick, and I found it hard for me to fall asleep in one. A pad is a must in it though....

You got that right brother. Next year when im out we should all get out to yosimite and have a mini gathering.

Thanks my friend. Ya know, we all know that you can get it done with one blade, and lord knows I love steel, but I gotta say, its nice to simplify, and focus on other aspects of just being there. In the moment so to speak. The fiddleback speaks to the simple guy Ive become. Its a great companion.

I think you actually inspired me to spend the night out in the backyard with my 11 year old son. "Backyard Bushman" that's what we are going to be tonight. Thanks J.

Looks like a great time and a great spot Jake. My prayers go out to you and your family so that whatever needs fixing, gets fixed.
