A real Umnumzaan owners review!

I rank the pivot bushing as the most important thing about the sebenza. It's why I carry it over any other knife.

Without a pivot bushing, CRK should sell the umnumzaan for at least $100 less than the sebenza.

Well if they do price it at that level then I reckon I'll just have to get me one. My concern is that it will be priced above the Sebenza level and if so it would be just too expensive here in the UK.
Time will tell.

OH it will be more then the regular Sebenza because of all the new "features".

I think the pivot screw can work but like I said earlier it will take careful planning and design. Which means the tolerances will be high and maybe higher then the bushing design. But this comes with a price of smashing that washer when putting it together. Then we are back to square one with having CRK fixing their customers mistakes of not putting it together right. So CRK more money fixing a non-idiot proof design.

Guys the prototype is selling for 1600.00 , do you think its really gona be priced less than a sebenza? Come on now.

Fortunately, there are enough Sebenzas to go around.
They are built to last a lifetime, so if you own one, and like it better than the new blade, chill out. I find all the fuss comical. Like kindergardeners talking about the new G.I. Joe action figure :D

You have to admit, it would be very difficult to improve on the regular Seb in any substantial way.
Maybe this new blade is CR showing us it's true.

I was told at the Blade Booth that it would be about the same price of large sebenza.

They open as smooth as any knife I've handled and I liked the thicker blade.

I'll just say that was about all I liked and will pass and stick with my sebbies.

:jerkit:Oh Redsox you are a silly man. We are not idiots at all for spending 1600.00 on the protype. I myself bought one and to me 1600.00 is like buying a candy bar. So i think your comment is indeed very stupid.:jerkit:

Oh, you're the OP. No wonder. Enjoy your "UM-NUN"

Agreed. Someone in Redsox's possition may not be financially secure enough to afford/spend $1600 on a knife. Sad.

Buying a knife as an investment is a very different game than buying knife to use. Good luck with your investment.

I disagree entirely. For myself and I assume a lot of us that have posted in this thread, this new knife without a pivot bushing represents a decrease in quality, craftsmanship, and the superiority that I have always associated with Chris Reeve Knives, and only Chris Reeve Knives. It's not just the new action figure, it's supposedly a new action figure with lower quality and ease of use than the old, proven action figure all of us kindergardeners have come to love.

You have to admit, it would be very difficult to improve on the regular Seb in any substantial way.
Maybe this new blade is CR showing us it's true.

If it is very difficult or impossible to improve on their knife that has made them so popular and well-regarded, why would they make a new knife that is worse just to reinforce the fact that it is very difficult to improve upon?

That is the real departure from the company I have come to know.

Maybe after a year or so they will introduce the old "regular" sebenza as the "New Classic" sebenza, and everyone will buy them like hotcakes.

The bushing is one of the key things I love about a sebenza. I love the classic with micarta. I can't afford one now, but I am saving for one so I will one day buy that knife. That is my holy grail for the last 2 years and the new knife, though it is interesting, I will not buy it. It just does not do it for me.

Except of course for those denizens of the rarified air who can afford to buy them like candy bars.
