A riddle of steel

Speaking from experience, I think if you give Jerry a chance to look at it you may find out the other reasons why we buy Busse steel. Thanks for sharing your awesome story and pics either way, and thankfully you were on top of the mower rather than in the path of that edged missile's 55 foot path! If that was mine I would turn it into a project I've been thinking about.

I left my 1311 sheathed on my tractor for the same purpose for the last 4 or 5 years. One night I accidentally damaged it in use and after a quick phone call was taken care of. If Jerry ever opens a Busse museum I bet there could be a fascinating room just for the "War(rantee) Stories".

I don't think they've ever turned down a warranty claim. I would say that this is covered. That's why I buy busse because I know they'll repair or replace a blade for any crazy reason.

Awww... it's just a flesh wound.
Seriously, you might wanna tell Jerry about this. Busse is the best for several reasons.

Crazy story, thanks for sharing.

Agree with the others that the shop would probably like a chance to see it, doesn't look like a total loss either way though. Hope you're able to get it back into service.

Man that's awesome! I'm impressed by how well it held up to the mower blades. Especially the ResC. Lucky no-one was impaled by a 200mph flying BB13!!

So... it IS possible to chip infi steel after all lmao! Not too worried about your BB13 but how's the poor mower blade lol? Try sending the mower blade to JD and see how their customer service and Warranty's are at the same time you send your bb13 to Busse. See who wins that chop off ha:thumbsup:;)

In this corner, weighing in at 678lbs, the green machine, nothing runs like, JD riding lawnmower!!! And in this corner weighing in at just over 24oz, comprised completely of infi steel and res c, the legendary and undefeated champion of the world, busse bb13.

Gentleman, listen to me at all times, protect yourself at all times etc etc lol

Awesome story man! My kid loves John Deere!

If you'd like, I'll take it from you for proper disposal. Er... Refreshment.

I'd send it to the shop though. Might be fun.

I'll contact them and see what options I have. I honestly wouldn't expect a warranty claim, but maybe they'll repair it without me having to wait until the custom shop opens back up.

Btw, thanks for all the humor on here. I'm glad someone is getting to laugh over it. Heck, some of the comments are even making me laugh, 24 hours later now.

Actually, where it doesn't have chips and rolls, it WILL still kill. It isn't a stabber anymore, though. Purely slash. Mostly back near the grip, though.
And like several have mentioned, I'm REALLY glad no one got hurt.

Makes for a good story. I still think it would make a nice drop/spear point once repaired, so either way, you have options. ;)

After some time in my hands, if that were my blade anyhow, it would stab, slash, dance the waltz with my wife, convince her to leave me, and write a novel that would make "ulisses" look like it was written in crayon. Then it would read it to me.

Haha. JK. Send it to the shop. I'd butcher it.

Jerry: Hey Garth you ever even heard of anyone reprofiling their CGBB13 with a John Deere riding mower....Well it's been tried now!

nothing run like a deere.
I am very happy that there was no person in the middle of that trajectory...particularly some kid. OTOH, your knife seems to have won the war with the mower deck.
p.s. My first, and only, brand new John Deere mower burned up so many very costly belts,...without any dealer sympathy, that I sold it within about three months at a huge loss.
