They're so clueless it is absurd. God, how I would hate to live in that festering crap hole of oppression.
 
With the fall of the iron curtain, much of the world is gaining freedom, and the main countries that fought communism are losing it. Very strange. :(
 
People let it come to this. Let's remember that as we watch various laws come to pass over OUR freedoms. we cannot be silent. I live near chicago where you can't have a gun in the city limits. period. I'm suprised they haven't tried the same with knives.
 
Yeah let's make carrying guns and knives illegal! that way all the crimainals will stop carying them :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

All this does is make the law abbiding an easier target! I say we should all carry guns, anything semi-automatic and cops should be carring automatics. And of coarse knives for all.

I won't ever travel to England again until these hysterical weapon control policies are reversed.
I like the country and the people, but I just can't justify spending tourist money in a country where the politicians stampede on civil rights.
 
woooowww....I cant believe that they really are believeing their own..fear?...whatever you want to call it. We live in a "paranoid" society, not just their, but everywhere. You turn on the TV and see how everything is bad for you, including the oxygen!!!! Its all scare tactics. the people who do not use or carry knives, out of their ignorance, want to keep everyone else from having them to settle their fear. the same thing happened with guns. Now look at it!!! theres more crime then the media will report, why? to justify what they support!! they lie about the real statistics to justify their positions!!!
It sounds like the way things are going over there, the only way for them to be safe is to tie themselves up!!


Its sad that no one understands you make the inoccent criminals! Its strange how many do not understand that getting in trouble carrying a knife, or gun, is the least on a criminals mind!!! they try to relate their feelings, or so it seems, to criminals who do not care about laws!! (or so it seems).
 
Wow, that is as hysterical as I've seen....

I guess the goal is a bunch of infant-like city-dwellers that have no clue how to use a knife or any other tool, and can only consume pre-masticated or bite-size chunks of food out of jars.

Folding pocket scissors must be next on the list.

Some of the reports of scandals involving the politicians who allow/support this type of irrationality suggest that some already do tie themselves up, among other things....:)
 
Does anyone have knife law information from other former British colonies?

I'm interested because the laws in Hong Kong are heavily based on British laws, but thankfully this latest development came too late to be incorporated. Hong Kong has very restrictive firearms laws (pretty much nil chance of acquiring one, a select few get to shoot them at the range and leave them there after that). The knife laws are semi-reasonable (sub-3" OK, typical of some of the more restrictive states in the US), even though the firearms prohibition has led to local triad members using mainly large butcher knives as weapons.

I think that the general population of Hong Kong just does not even think of carrying a knife either as an SD device or as a tool, so there are no restrictive laws. HK is a very safe place to be, triad violence is very limited. As long as you're not part of that culture and don't go looking for a fight, you'll be fine even in the "bad" parts of town.

So there's a bit of common sense in the laws. Any reports from other formerly British locales?
 
We can still carry folders under 3" (non locking like many countrys)without explanation. Any knife can be carried provide you have reasonable cause. The police also have to have grounds for suspecting you have an unlawful weapon before they can search you.
 
Remember how Orwell define Oceania? It's not just Britain who's using 1984 as the guide book to rule the people. Look at the brand new homeland security and their new laws and stuff like that.
Freedom country ain't so free anymore.

Here in New Zealand the law is the same as you describe. I would be arrested for carrying my buck strider (unless I have good reason for carrying it, and even then it can not be concealed) and the penalties are severe. Unlike HK, we have big problems with knife crime and the police take it seriously and don't tend to turn a blind eye. I am sure I would go to court for carrying an offensive weapon if the police searched me right now.
 
They've let it come to that. If any blame is to be laid they must first look in the mirror.

On the same coin, I think that it's basically geared tword the sheeple who think up this kind of legislation in the first place. Personally I'd never live in a place where they forbode carrying a knife.

And yet again, the blame for crimes, murders, etc., is put on inanimate objects instead of the individuals actually committing the act.

Put a knife and a gun side by side, on a table and watch them "go at it". What will happen?? Absolutely nothing. They are INANIMATE OBJECTS without a mind of their own!!!

Well good luck to them! It'll only takr them a few years to figure out this campaign was totally ppintless and they wasted a whole bunch of money.
Same as the draconian gun laws they enforced several years back only to find recently gun crime and illegal fierarms are on the increase.
What!! You mean to say that if they BAN knives that the number of 'knife' crimes will go down beacuse the crminials who carry them for assualt purposes have a respect for the law and will automatically give up their blades. Hhmmm yeaah sounds reasonable! :barf:

If they come for my knives, I'm going to start carrying my craftsman pliers so I can rip peoples noses off and stuff instead of just cutting and stabbing everyone like I do now, that gets so boring sometimes. :rolleyes:
 
ichor: that goes along with what Orwell have been saying in his grave, 50+ years before.
War is a mechanism that makes citizen felt willing to give up their rights for "victory", however this so call "victory" is no where in sight, and it's only a ploy to expan their power.
Call this implausible or call me paranoid, but this is not a healthy thing. Yet there are so many poeple blinded by the media thinking that giving up this and that right will save them all, while they're not even look at the source of the problem.
Sorry if I make too much politics out of this issue, but it just bugs me to see these things happens around the so called free world.
