The issue with the scabbard is that it wasn't really done to spec, which i don't personallly have a problem with.
1. The kamis added a snap, probably because they didn't think the scabbard would hold the blade securely. The snap really doesn't help much.
2. Added chape.
3. The horizontal carry is correct, but the implementation of the straps was not implicitly understood by the sarki. I actually dig the blade down horizontal carry.
Other than that, if you jam the khuk into the scabbard as far as it will possibly go, it is held pretty securely.
The sarki did make some improvements to the desingn, such as lining the sheaths with a facing piece of leather. I'll just line mine with a kydex of plastic form, to addd some rigity.
If The seax is the cake, then the sheath was just the icing anyway.
As fed pointed oout, the chiruwa style limits some of the carving, unless you wanna carve steel too. I thought this was a bigger deal than the sheath issue, but they still look just fine. If one of these evern eeds a handle refit, you can jsut loose the scales, taper the tang down a bit, and slam it into a handle of horn, bone, or antler. Voila! No exposed tang.
