Moving this to the Knife Reviews and Testing since it doesn't have anything to do with Busse Knives

I think it's a shame to do that to a Hossom but it looks to have held up quite well.

Pretty much would guess that would be the case with one of Jerry's knives though. That boy puts a lot of thought, effort and pretty severe testing in his work down to the edge. I still prefer to us my knives for cuttin' stuff other than steel. :D

What useful purpose does chopping at a mild steel tube serve? I don't see how that tests anything but the limits of human stupidity. I thought only knifetests.com was pulling this crap.
If the dude was chopping up various hardwood dowels and then demonstrating the edge retention, I could see some value but this is just plain bone-headed.

Sorry, I'm just allergic to stupidity and I hate when people do dumb things with nice knives.

HOSSOM must do a good heat treat.

Jerry makes a heckuva fine knife! I can't say who heat treats every blade but Paul Bos has done quite a few of them. Both Jerry and Paul haved worked diligently to elevate their respective crafts.
Stay Safe,

I am very glad that someone else is testing knives to the limit because I would like to know how far a knife can be taken. Is this good? well Hossom has just got another customer, me, I will vote with my hard earned dollars and contribute to keeping jobs in teh USA. We need more tests like this to show that MADE IN USA means something and by a Chinaman to boot - what is not good about this??

I want to jump in here so the right person (or companies) gets the credit for this. It really demonstrates the toughness of Crucible Steel's CPM-3V. This blade was at Rc61, where is it is still tougher than most steels, plus 3% Vanadium keeps the edge sharp longer than most. Crucible gets credit for what I buy and Paul Bos gets ALL the credit for what the steel becomes after I abuse it on my grinder.

Candidly, it put a little knot in my belly when I first saw these pix. I confess I hadn't planned on that application when I made the knife. :D

Nor should you have. That's gross abuse of a finely made knife never designed nor intended for such an act.

Hossom makes a great knife - Bos performs a great heat treatment and CPM3V certainly does not detract from Jerry's and Paul's efforts. A great trio yielding an excellent knife and I am very glad it is not my knife that was tested in this way !!!

I have never understood why people complain about how somebody else treats their own knives....

In this case it helps make evident what is possible when maker, steel, and heat treat come together in a superior product.

Now you know, and it didn't cost you anything!
