Well it was suppose to be simpler anyway. :( Ended up taking quite a bit of time. It is a take down again. (pics of it dismantled coming in the next few days)

Since I am trying to follow advices received and be more confident I'll only point out the problems with the knife that are apparent on the pics. The hamon is a little close to the edge for my taste in a few spots. Didn't know it was gonna move that much. But then again 1095 and Parks 50 does produce nice results. The marks you see on the inside of the top of the handle is because I dimpled the scales before gluing them together but forgot that I was gonna thin them down quite a bit that close to the guard. Would have shown a little less if I had colored the epoxy. :( And finally the second pseudo-guard should really be about 1/8” closer to the guard. Not really enough place for 2 fingers above it and a little too much for one.

But that being said, I am pretty happy with it. I think it came out good. See I am Mr. Confidence now. ;)

Blade length: 6” OAL: 11”
Grind: Flat
Steel: 1095
Handle: Honey brown flame maple (stabilized)
Guards & pommel: Mild steel (1018) blued, copper inserts
Nut: Mild steel (1018)

Thanks for looking!

I really like it, very classy. The way you sculpt the fittings on your knives is something else! The copper is a nice touch.

Patrice, WOW you are really coming along. That is a very nice, clean, classy knife. Your copper pins really accent the sub hilt. Nice, Very Nice.

Thanks for the good words guys.
Will, a few more and I think they may be good enough for me to try and sell some. If people will buy them of course.

So, I read in another post indicated you haven't sold a knife yet???

I love your work, it's an inspiration to me. Sell away Patrice!:D

Patrice, that's a very pretty knife. I like the warmth of the wood. Of course people will want to buy your knives. You shouldn't have a problem there. You've proved me right, my theory was that you've been working up to selling for a while, doing the research and working on your chops. I'll bet that knife would go for a good price over in sales real quick.

Mr. Confidence. :p It's ok, I'm pretty sure you'll never be an egomaniac.

Hi Patrice

i'd say thats a nice looking blade.. everything from patina on guards.. to wood etc
- very tasteful... not like the other subhilts you see that are in my opinion a poor design

great work

Greg

by the way... how'd you get the parks up here... do you have a source ?

Thanks again guys.

Salem, as much as I can see that the knife turned out ok I still feel like Mr. Egomaniac saying so. But as I am from French descent, my ego should catch up any minute now. ;)

Matt, I would not send you a crappy knife like that. :p

Greg, sadly I ordered the Parks from a forum member that use to sell some and picked it up in the states. No local source.

Pat

Wow Patrice, that is a beautiful knife. The fittings look like you just took your finger and pressed the sculpting into it, very smooth! Another great knife...

Another beautiful piece of art Mr. Confidence. I really like the carved fittings, top notch! I think you are ready to hit the market!!!

Pat,

"Simple" looks pretty complicated to me. You created and interesting interpretation of the bowie that befits the province you hail from. Is the gap between the wood and metal fittings a design element or is it to allow for the wood to expand? Thanks for your post.

that is one sweet looking knife patrice. i really like it. good job on fit and finish too
