This one struck me like a lightening bolt when I was checking out the True North website today.
Fortunately, for my wallet, this Strider custom was already sold for $1,250. ;)
I am not sure if any comment is necessary, or even possible.

No offense meant to Strider or the guy who bought it, cause in my opinion it's all about "I" when it comes to buying knives, but I hope you are being sarcastic...:D

I am going to toss out the ultimate deal breaker that has not been mentioned!

I think the knife is ugly.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and if I THINK, for whatever reason, that the design isn't pleasing to MY eye.
FORGET about the technical merit and the superb workmanship. My wallet stays closed. ;)

I try really hard to only buy knives that I consider to be very beautiful.

Good thing it was already sold, or you would have broken your own #1 deal breaker rule.

With scratches all over the blade, to boot.

Ahhhhh....those are unique scratches, having their own nomenclature..Stridermarks.

If you really look at the knife, you will see how it really is the ideal cake server.

The reinforced tip slides cleanly into the innards of the cake, and down, cleanly severing the layers, and "deanimating" it simulaneously.

The low-drag reverse curvature will keep any messiness from clinging to the blade, and the flare at the choil ensures that even a seven-layer gets cleaved down to the plate.

With a deft twist of the wrist, the now "free" slice can be removed, slid onto a plate, and served with a flourish.:D

I'm just embarrassed I paid so much attention to Mr. Dean's damascus pattern when there's stuff like this around. Back to the drawing board, Mr. Dean...:D

There's two others on the site almost as nice, however all sold.

Hey Kevin, forget about Dean,Fisk, Hancock or Loveless. They are has-beens, old-school, virtual dinosaurs! Who needs elegant, finely finished cutlery when you can have pieces like this.

Plus, if anyone gives you lip around the site, you can just slip this baby out, and spank 'em with it!

I see a new juncture in your collecting, in the very near future! (not!)

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I was really down after reading the "deal breaker" thread. But if someone can ask $1250 for that, then surely I can ask $100 for one of my piddly little knives. Thank you for posting this picture:D As the boys over in the Pirate's Cove would say "AAARRRGGGH, matey........there be Mall Ninjas afoot!!!!
