A while back, when I started this venture, I knew how to make a good knife, but wondered what it took to be successful as a maker. Well, I listened to my customers and potential customers and took their suggestions to heart and to the grinder.
I began the Model IX run in October of 2006 and have made almost 50 since then, most to the specifications of customers. I've made many of original size, but some folks wanted an inch more, so I made them. Yet another wanted even an inch more, so I made that, too. Original size, then larger, then extra large.........now I introduce the extra small, again a customer request (thanks WeWaslim!)
This little guy is 6 1/2 inches overall with a blade of 2 15/16 inches, and is only a little over an inch wide. The steel is 440-C stainless and the handle is bone. I tenderly thinned and evened the bone without cracking it anywhere and the fit and finish is really really special. I hope you can see the filework on the finger grooves. The sheath is small and tight, dark and rich.
This one's serial 047 and has an owner. I'll make another one like it for $135.
I enjoyed the hell outta making this. Thanks!
