Sorry to jump track, I had done a search for the PAL RH36 and found this thread. Here is mine that I found on the RR tracks when I was a kid. (back in the early 70's) The sheath was dry rotted, the stacked leather handle and pommel were loose and it was severely "bellied out" from someone sharpening it in it's sweet spot only.
I propositioned a maker here and he whipped it in shape. He drilled out the pommel and reglued each piece of leather. Reattached the pommel and gave it a super sweet regrind. Then another maker to make the sheath. I think it turned out pretty nice. I only wish I would of taken a before pic.

Koot, they did a good job on your 36. Mine has the same handle. DM
