A Stove that I Made (from misanthropists design)

Whats wrong with Galvanized?

"The galvanization process coats steel with a thin layer of zinc metal as a way to reduce oxidation (rusting) of the steel. It should be noted that this zinc will be liberated from the steel surface when the stove is new, due to the heat of combustion, producing a toxic vapor. Welders are familiar with this phenomenon, known as 'zinc vapors'. Galvanized metal is not recommended, but if you do use it in your project, make sure to burn off all the zinc without inhaling the fumes before using it to cook with. Or better yet, stay away from galvanized metal altogether. You can get plain sheet metal at hardware stores very cheaply."

Thats a great looking little heater/Stove. Hopefully one day I will have the time to make one of those. It would be really cool to make one that when not in use completely stores inside the paint can.

could make very cheaply (not a whole lot of money to spend on a nicer one, as i only work about 5 hours a week at minimum wage)

Ahh, Thanks for clearing that up. I wonder if the make mailboxes out of steel besides galvanized?

If you heat galvanized steel, it gives off zinc fumes for the first bit.

You don't want to breathe zinc...you will get "the zinkies" and feel very ill.

Run a couple hot burns through any galvanized stove before you go using it in a shelter.

OH, there was a second page. I smrt
