A.T. Barr Collaboration /One-Eyed Jack

I agree that bolsters would make the One-Eyed Jack distinctive but colored G-10 or micarta with a liner lock would also make the One-Eyed Jack stand out. BTW, Cut Finger is name when I sign at work. I'm too computer dumb, to use my regular title there.:o

I have A.T.'s very first "One Eyed Jack" and it's a very handy gent's folder. Great little piece!

I like them both but I think I favor the Cape Fear a little more. It reminds me just a little of the Herbst collaboration but the frame lock and cleaner liners make this more attractive as an EDC.

Jon

I would definately buy the ti integral One Eyed Jack. I like the Cape Fear but it looks a little too large for an EDC ( hard to tell from a pic though). I've wanted an AT Barr for a while and this collab might make my dream a reality.
Matt

Thanks for all the kind words.:) Sal and I have talked before about a One-Eyed-Jack collaboration. It ain't gonna happen.:(

As most of you know, I'm a knifemaker, not a machinist. If it was not for Michael Walker and his "liner Lock", I'd still be making sheath knives. Sal is looking for "new and improved" locks.

Again, I sincerely appreciate the kind words. I do my best to make a safe strong knife, at a fair price.

I hope that you all feel, I "Don't make a Ugly knife";)

For what it's worth of all the Spyderco prototypes I saw at the Blade show it was the mid-lock knives (not the ones with the compression locks...) that caught my attention. Newer locks are nice but I'm still a fan of a well made frame lock - there's a certain elegance that comes with it's simplicity and strength. Function AND form I guess. :-)

A T, do you normally make frame locks like the Cape Fear?

Jon

A.T. too bad your knife won't be made by Spyderco. I think it's a great design. I recently got to handle a One Eyed Jack, and I was really impressed. It's a great small EDC.:)

Those were the first frame locks I've made. From the response I received, I need to make more of them. Almost all of my models can be converted to a frame lock.

Yea same here. Have you read book 10 of WoT? I'm becoming dissapointed in RJ's writing as of late. Seems like he almost wants to drag out the series to sell more books...

I left RJ after book 5 or so. The saga became too political and lost whatever it was that attracted me to the earlier books. As you can see I did get my tag from the Aeil(sp?) though... :D If you want, follow up in email so that we don't bother the good people in this thread? :)

I think the problem is that the story has gotten too fragmented with sublots, too many supporting characters usurping center stage. It takes forever to keep the myriad threads moving forward in step. It is kind of like Zeno's paradox where less and less happens in each successive novel because you take shorter and shorter steps towards the goal.

I love these forums. People actually know fantasy lit. around here. Nice.

I agree Carlos. If you want to get in on some discussion sometime, e-mail me. I would be more than happy to talk about it.

Stonedog,
Writing you an email now.

Well gentlemen, I'm off to cut the lawn in the backyard. I shall be back later.

Well, if a moderator can jump onto the topic I guess I don't have to worry about following up. :D

Carlos,

Have you tried the George Martin series that Morgoth412 mentioned? I'd highly recommend it if you're a fan of the earlier WoT books.
