A Time to be Thankful GAW - WINNERS SELECTED!! SEE POST #53

Count me in. Along with being thankful for my family and girlfriend I am most thankful to be walking. I herniated a disk into my spinal column over a year ago in August of 2014. Today I can walk but running is hard, not that I run much. There are thing I still can't do, But I am mobile. I have numbness in my right foot and leg still and I don't think it will get better than it is now. Still thankful for the work my doctors did.

Not an entry. Just wanted to say thank you for the kind gesture. And the older I get the more I appreciate the small things in my life. I now realize I don't need alot of money to be rich.

I'm most thankful for my lovely wife of 35 years who has stayed with me through all the trials and tribulations. I love her dearly.

I'm thankful for the life I had and have, for my parents and my children and grand children. Not forgetting the cat who was kindness on earth and made me laugh out loud watching her kitten play when I was very sad.

Due to a few recent health issues I am grateful that I have friends who are ready, willing and able to step up and help at the drop of a hat. I am grateful for my late afternoon walks where I can sort out the events of the day.

My job caused me to move to the Chicago area from the Detroit area 18 months ago. This past summer my son, a Corpsman in the Navy, was moved from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina to Great Lakes, here in Chicagoland.

He's been away several times and home for Thanksgiving very few times. He is falling asleep on my couch as I type this while his wife is fighting him for some real estate on that same couch. :p

He has to work on Thanksgiving so we're doing dinner tomorrow.

I'm thankful that I have a couch for these events to unfold on :D.

Thanks for the chance.

I have a lot to be thankful for, but more than anything I'm thankful for family. My wife and I live 1,000 miles away from our families (moved for work), and I love the holidays because we get to go back to Arkansas and spend time with all our family and friends back home.

I'm also very thankful for the time I got to spend with family members who are no longer here, like my grandparents, and especially my dad. He died in a motorcycle accident a little over eight years ago, and as hard as it still is sometimes, I'm very grateful for the 22 years I got to spend with him, all the stuff he taught me, and everything he did for our family. He was a really, really good guy.

Here's my dad holding my brother and me for a $5 photo op with a bear on a chain (something tells me my mom wasn't there for this one). I have the original Polaroid in a little frame on the wall above my work bench where I sharpen my knives, clean guns, etc.

And here's one of dad on his bike.

I'm in, thank you so much for the Gaw! I'm thankful for my amazing girlfriend Heather. I've been injured since spring 2014, and she's taken care of me since my injury. I really don't think I could have made it without her, and she's a great woman.

KBA,

Way to go with a second GAW! I have only started following the traditional forum about 6 months ago, but it is a lot of fun.

I am posting a picture of my me with my girls on vacation earlier this year. We lived close by the Spanish Riding School, and my daughters had the best time of their lives watching.
I have a beautiful healthy wife who is giving me another daughter next week, a solid job that allows me to continue to learn and is meaningful. I have enough money to let my children explore their interests, and time to refine my own.

Thanks for the reminder to keep things in perspective, KBA.

Many many things to be thankful for as we whiz around on this tiny spec, in an infinite universe.
But most of all I’m thankful for being alive and enjoying reasonably good health – without which we have nothing, as Bob (my sincere thoughts with you good man) and many others can attest.
Thanks you also to KBA for your generosity … I’m In.

I certainly have a lot to be thankful for. There's the basics: food, clothing, shelter... But beyond all of that, faith and family resound. I come from a large family, and am lucky enough to live fairly close to most of them, as well as having some pretty cool in-laws (not everyone can say that) that come for visits. But the biggest thing that comes to mind, is my own little family - my husband, little girl, and our furry girls (we have a dog and cat, that we sometimes refer to as twins since their coloring is very similar). Not sure where I'd be without them. Thanks for the GAW chance.

I am in, thanks for the chance and gesture.

I am thankful for my family and thankful for some new friends of mine. I am also thankful for some time to enjoy the company of my friends and family. So often we don't have time to sit back and enjoy life like we should all be privileged enough to. Life is too short. Wishing you all a wonderful relaxing thanksgiving. I hope you all have some time to sit back and relax this holiday week and weekend. All the best.
I am also thankful that I had some extra time to pencil and ink sketch some things. Something I don't often have time for. I guess I'll share a couple.

Home, health, family, I'm blessed with much and more than deserved I fear. I'm thankful every day. Please include me in this generous give away.

What a wonderful GAW idea Brett. I posted in the Off Topic, but saw this and I just can't believe the amount of support I'm receiving from all my friends here.
Obviously not an entry, but I'm thankful for all the great friends I have here on BF, and the best wife and family in the world.
Thanks everyone

I'm thankful for the community I have found here, as well as the patience and knowledge you all have bestowed. I'm thankful for family, though it's just me and Mom now, I have wonderful memories of good men who taught me a few things about knives. I'm thankful for the 13 years I had with the best dog I've ever known. But most of all I'm thankful for Donna who has been there for me during all of life's changes during the past three years.

I'm in.

Bob, I also want to thank you for your contributions to the porch. Praying for you buddy.

Macchina, Congratulations! Very happy for you my friend.

I'm in. I am thankful that I have maintained good health this long (70) and that I am still able to work full time.

I'm probably not eligible for the GAW, but thought I'd post anyway (old guy, new member).
I'm thankful for my family, and that my son is now old enough to send me an email with this as the subject: "knife looks so cool" (OK, so it was a picture of an MTech. He's young. He'll learn).
We can also do things together, like the pics below.

Lastly, does anyone else notice that bozack looks like a young Les de Asis?

I'd like an opportunity to win your generous giveaway!

I'm thankful for my relatively good health, for my wonderful wife and daughter, for my job, for the Mets getting to a World Series, and for my church life/family.

For a newbie to the knife world the existence of this forum was a revelation. All of these wonderful people sharing an interest. Speaking just for myself it was also a little intimidating to jump into the conversations. Bob's gift to new members is his knack for making you feel accepted, reaching out in welcome. Generosity of spirit that goes above and beyond being decent. He has always made me feel valued and for that I am thankful.

I am blessed to have a loving wife and two beautiful little girls (youngest is my avatar), a good and fulfilling job, a warm house and both of my parents to spoil thier granddaughters.

Wonderful GAW, thank you!
