A Trip to Olean

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing all the new wares coming out of Olean.

New Becker stuff?
Photos or it didn't happen! (sorry Ethan, but I think that's an internet rule.)

Maybe those prototypes need to be farmed out to a wider "control group" for field testing....

Very cool post, Ethan. I look forward to what's coming out (especially if it has you all giddy like a school girl). I would love to take a trip to Olean and tour the Kabar factory and meet the people that make it all happen for us.

Would love to see some new Beckers, but at the risk of being a wet blanket....I'd rather like to see progress on better sheaths. Shrug

and if Olean wasn't 9 hours away, i'd be there to meet the Boss for lunch, or encourage him to my side of the woods. this is still so much closer than where he lives in TN

Always good to see a post from the MAN himself and always great to hear about new swag. Enjoy your trip bossman and I can't wait to see the uploaded photos of your encounters at Kabar

We use to go to Olean, NY a lot hen I was younger. My family had a cabin next to Bradford, PA, and Olean was just a short drive.

Also lad to hear that Cutco will be making Becker blades now. We have been using the same Cutco knives for over 20 yrs with great results an no sharpening what so ever!!

QUOTE=Ethan Becker;12603904]Hey Everybody.....

Spent the day with the Tooj, John Stitt (the guy in charge) and Joe Bradley.......Very productive time.... We talked over a bunch of new Becker stuff and I got to see a bunch of protos of other designers blades that will be coming out.....Very exciting stuff......I will be headed to the plant in the morning to see and thank the guys and gals who actually make the blades....... I have been hanging around this industry for thirty years and been a knife nut since I got my first hatchet at age seven......I truly believe that there is no better bang for your knife buck than the fixed blades made in Olean, NY........The CUTCO people have made a huge investment in state of the art cnc flat grinders to make the Becker blades as well as other stuff like the Zombie series...... They are trying hard to make as much of their product in the states as possible and I say yay to that........ Although I have not been at the sauce, I am flying pretty high on the days events.... Hope to share some pix tomorrow from around the plant so you can see how Beckers are made and who makes them......

All Best......
