A very strong folder that you could ware in slacks?

Another 2nd for the BM 940. It's really light, slim, and strong.

It has a slightly "softer" (less weaponish) appearance that can make it fit in more with the boardroom crowd while still being large enough to do whatever work most knives are used for.

Great question. My choices are solid ones, but expensive ones.

For Daily wear I love the Sebenza. With an all titanium frame it is very light for its size and has one amazing S30V blade. Small is the choice for the most discreet carry; the large is light enough not to be noticeable and has a good surface for cutting and grip (especially with Micarta inlays).

For Dress wear I think WHK's GenTac folder is stunning (as is the clipless Attache version). Featuring a carbon fibre or a fine wood handle it also sports a scalpel thin and wickedly sharp ZDP-189 blade. This knife has the style and performance to be at home in James Bond's tuxedo.

For strength I would definitely choose the Chris Reeve Sebenza. The WHK blades although razor sharp are also pretty much razor thin, which makes them prone to breaking or chipping under hard use.

I have to wear slacks to work every day, and clip carry is not an option so it has to be down in the pocket. My two "slacks knives" are 1) Spyderco Delica 3 with the clip removed, and 2) Klotzli ACC1. Both are 4" closed with 3" blades.

The Spyderco Delica 3 is about as slim and light a package as I know of, expecially without the clip. I also have tremendous confidence in the strength of the knife, and the lock. The Klotzli has carbon fiber handles with titanium linerlock and like the Delica 3 is very slender and light. Normally I'm not a big fan of liner locks, but the Klotzli is made with extremely high tolerances and I've never seen such precise mating of locking liner to blade tang in another knife. I've got very high confidence in this knife as well.

I wear dress pants or khakis a lot at work and was going through the same question. I either carry my small blackwood sebenza or a spydie lava. Both great modern dress knives in my opinion.

That is a cool knife! Thanks for the response guitarted! DO let us know when you buy something.

With dress pants, I usually clip a Benchmade AFCK or CQC7 inside the waistband. What with the blousing effect of the shirt, I don't think anyone has ever noticed it.

I have the Attache Titan (carbon fiber) and a Mnandi- they are both great, but since you mentioned strength, I think I'd give the Mnandi the nod. Look is simple but "casual elegant", action feels very high quality and it feels great in the hand (mine at least). Also, you have the option of the clip. If you want "full dress" though, gotta go with the WH.
