A Vic Farmer to the rescue!

…
Pay the money , get what you will treasure and enjoy , get the colour you want , buy right and only buy once .

Thanks for the advice, Ken. That makes a lot of sense to me, and probably fits my personality - i tend NOT to be an impulse buyer by nature.

The same company that did the 2 runs of the orange Farmer is promising more colors in the future. Those will be very affordable and.......

Swiss Bianco does colors once a year or so so if you start putting funds back now, SB's will still be cheaper than most vintage Red Farmers.

Thanks for the info, SAK Guy. I'll just have to school myself on how to be aware of the appearance of new runs. For the past month, I've successfully given up a 40-year cheap cigar habit, so maybe I can divert those funds into my knife budget! :D

Left you a VM.

Kidding, right? :D

I know what you mean , but I've decided that there are so many different models of Alox SAK's that I'd be happy to have just one example of each . Why spend your knife budget replicating what you already have . It also must be said my knives are users not exhibition pieces so maybe I look at it from a different angle than some .

After reading this thread I just had to get a farmer. I have been carrying an alox cadet for about the past 4 months and it goes with me everywhere. I guess we will see if the farmer bumps it out of my pocket. I just got a silver one but if the orange comes out again I am probably gonna get one of those as well, if I like the farmer that is on its way.

I love my Farmer! No matter what I carry it is the only one that never gets left at home. It's always in my pocket!

The saw is amazing!

Even slices some fruit up and other occasional kitchen prep.

It is one of the best knives I have ever owned. There literally is not a day that goes by, where I do not use it!!

And now, as of tonight, I have an Orange Alox one on the way!!

Where did you find the orange alox?

Yes...., the Farmer is awesome. Yes...., it is the only knife you will ever need. NO...., MINE IS NOT FOR SALE!!!:D

Hahaha. I bought two and gave one to my dad and father-in-law. They always wanted to use mine. Now they are always using theirs.

Such a handy little knife.

I've used mine to eat lunch then pry pins off a door hinge to get a fridge out of someone's basement 5 minutes after. LOVE IT!

Funny story:
My Farmer arrived last Thursday. It bumped my Svord Mini Peasant out of my pocket until today. I took my trusty peasant to work and the Farmer stayed home. Well, I actually needed a saw today. I had to cut some thick cardboard tubing, and missed the Farmer big time! Ended up getting it done with a table saw, but the Farmer would have made quick work of it. :playful:

I think I will have to carry both knives; the Farmer will ride in my pack. They are both too good to leave home.

Have you gotten the hang of opening the Peasant one-handed? For me, it's a key benefit of the Svord's simplicity, and why I like using it. Walking outside with no table to set things on, it's a lot easier to cut my orange with the Peasant.
