Photos A Walk in Nature

Super cool shots Ray :thumbsup::cool:

It was not until recently I realized that they were actually called Garter snakes NOT Garden snakes lol 😬

I blame my Spanish wired brain ... who knows how many other things I am hearing and saying “close but not quite”

Our kids poke so much fun at my wife and I , especially the youngest one lol

Have you guys ever seen a snake with it's face stuffed with salad ?

DAY NATTAH DUDE :)

Sailing my little dinghy in the Saint Lawrence river in 2019 when I got my first GEC.
Sailing that little bathtub is like riding a wild bronco when the wind picks up and the whitecaps start rolling.
Luckily that day things were nice and mild.
( knife went back into my life vest pocket right away, I just had to take a pic you know 😉 )

It's cool to see someone else on here who sails!

Hi Jim Bro :) very cool knife  , did you make it ?, I am curious about how sharp it can be made.

Got out this morning for another hike. Early start avoids the crowds :)

And I won't claim to be Dr. Dolittle like our intrepid CelloDan CelloDan , but this little guy followed us for a bit yelling at us to get off his lawn.

Such cool pics my friend , the essence of what this thread is all about :)

For a variety of reason we had slacked off on our walks the past couple of weeks and I was starting to feel it. Mental fog, poor night sleep etc.
Yesterday we dropped our girls with their kayaks at the river and my wife and I went for an 8 km walk which felt so good

Pics from last summer at the Rideau, halfway between Kingston and Ottawa.

Thank you. No, I did not make the Obsidian Bowie. It is sharp and functional but is really just a curious display piece. While it's said that Obsidian can be knapped to be 50-500 times sharper than steel (depending on how knapped), Obsidian is much too brittle to stand up to the kinds of modern cutting chores that no second thought would be given to, using steel. There's no way to "resharpen" Obsidian other than knapping and I don't have that skill set.

Here's a 5 1/2' black snake that lives under the wood pile. Today I caught him in the open & he was moving too fast, heading back for the wood pile for me to get him to pose with a knife. I had the CK Shuffler Barlow in my pocket though.:)

That’s a great snake to have around, they aren’t aggressive and they eat lots of rodents, very cool!👍

We see them around here in the flower beds or the wood pile every Summer. When I'm carrying wood in for the stove in the Winter I usually run across their shedded skins. Plus, if there are a few black snakes around, there usually isn't enough surplus food for rattlers or copperheads to take up residence.
