ALL GORGEOUS ~

Sorry though - I neglected the knife photos. BUT - with some imagination you can see knives in the clouds or in the dune shadows. ;)
Knives are in all of nature.

All these photos with a PIXEL Pro 7 cell phone. Darn good little camera.

Beautiful photos Ray 👍
The new camera certainly shines ! Nice 😎
Happy for you as I remember you had some issues with your previous phone camera.

Father’s Day bike ride to the lake
Nice 👍 😊
Hope all fathers on the Porch had a great day!

I’ve spent a good portion of the day observing a swan Dad guarding and protecting his family.

Every couple hours or so he goes around the island patrolling his territory and chasing any other waterfowl away.

Thank you Dan. The “new” phone is now old as I’ve had it since early 2023. Has been a great camera.
Yours works just fine too. :)

I’m really happy to see that rope knife accompanying you on your adventures, Dan :).

Outside of a few weekend mornings, I have struggled to find the time to get outdoors this spring. I still hope to get a couple of camping trips in this year - maybe a couple of nights in the Green Heron, and possibly a couple nights either on foot or on my bike.

You can be sure the knife you gave me will accompany me, either way:

Haha! I’m self-conscious enough just WALKING with a stick, but yes, I did consider it…

Swiss army knives and walking sticks, along with fly fishing vests and hats, cargo pants, etc., have always seemed a little silly to me, and yet here I find myself adopting the first two at least into my lifestyle. I think I need to just admit to myself that I am in fact the type of eccentric character that would ride the old mountain bike he modified back from the park while carrying a 6ft long stick he found and thought was neat. I know my coworkers would expect no less of me, but I still have to act normal when out in public with my wife…

The ride to and from the lake was mostly through suburban neighborhood streets, actually, but peaceful enough on a drizzly Saturday morning.
My riding buddy really wanted that oar we found. Nearly 11 miles back to the trailhead.

I would have gone back for it too.

Found this in the woods this spring ~

What-the-heck-in-the-woods.jpg

A 19’ fir sail boat mast.

Woods-mast.jpg

I had to bring it home. Fortunately I had a truck and did not need to hike it out far or ride it out on the cross bars of my bike. ;)

^ That's weird! How far into the woods was it?

A 15 minute hike back to my truck, parked on an abandon woods rode. In the other direction, another 15 minutes walk, is a community of houses on the head of a bay. I’m guessing that a few seasons ago some kids stole this mast and then had to abandon it when they realized that they had landed a too big fish. Has been leaning in the woods long enough to take some shape. Not much of a mast without rework but it will serve some repurpose. Would have no idea how to return it to its rightful owner - who likely - has already replaced it.

Finally a knife photo in my post (incongruous as it might be to the topic). ;)

Speaking of Guacamole Dan 🤔

May I recommend ~ So much better than all the rest. My wife is timid about heat from food so we agree to the “mild”, otherwise this brand - if you can find it - is over the top better than all the others we have tried.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Pics of the rest of knife please!

Thank you Tom
I initially thought it was stainless steel so I was not too worry about moisture while on Serena.
It turns out is carbon steel :cool: as the evidence for it did not take long to be evident.
I gave it a good flitz and I am forcing a patina as we speak to protect it a bit more while on the water. Boat knife will also have a meeting with the "The Red Scorpion" later today to have its edge tuned up

I just went to check on the patina progress and found I now have a Damascus boat knife lol
I'll let it go a bit longer to even it out. It's pretty however I want to protect the steel as much as possible

Hopefully you guys did not meet many pedestrians along those 11 miles :D

That is one VERY unique knife my friend  Very

Thanks Ray, I'll look for it
Diana does not really like the one I am currently buying so I always end up eating it all.

A great knife that I got to see it in person. Masterfull and out of this world engraving  How about we see the other side of the bolster :cool:

Nice composition Jose

Before we left the island I had to take one more pic of Mama Swan and its babies getting settled on the nest after they had come back from their afternoon outing with Dad Swan.

What is your camp pizza recipe Dan, CelloDan CelloDan ?

AND - as requested ~ THE STAG BARLOW

DAY ~

Such a beautiful knife Ray !
I love the idea of depicting the stag in a daytime and a nighttime setting on each side of the bolster !

For the outdoor pizza I just put a bit of flour, salt and granulated yeast in a ziplock bag.

I usually put about 250 grams of flour ( about 70 % white and 30 % whole wheat ) and add about 2% of salt ( about 5 grams in this case ) and about 1 % yeast. Yeast is hard to measure in such small amount so really I just put a teaspoon of it in the bag.

When the time comes I add some water and knead it two or three times with a few minutes rest in between. I then I coat it in oil so the dough does not dry up and set it on a warm place to rise.
Next it's time to cut up the toppings and afer that get the fire going.
By the time the fire is ready the dough has risen nicely and we are good to go  🍕

edited to fix my fuzzy math 😄
Just go by percentage and you are 👍

I walked a relaxing 7 miles or so along the canal this morning, before the serious heat hit. The river was almost 2 feet lower (Little Falls gage reading) than just a few weeks ago when I was out in my boat:

I stopped to fish a little while after my walk, but caught nothing - despite seeing a couple of large catfish splashing around:

It was still hot enough early that I sweat through my clothes and caused rust to form on the blade of my Okapi. I had the old Western scout knife in my pack with the telescoping fishing rod.
