Google tells me these are fruits from the "Strawberry Tree"
Have you tried them Jose ?

Cloudy and drizzly but warm this morning. Walked along the canal from mile 22 to mile 27 and back.
Nice walk along the canal Tom !
10 miles is impressive my friend :cool:
Here the weather has been "cloudy and drizzly ... and cold " lol
Our last outing was on the scooters a few weeks ago, then old man winter came back and is refusing to leave. First time is like this in many years.

Couple years ago elk hunting in the Bob Marshall
Beautiful scenery !
From what I read the area has one of the highest density of grizzly bears in North America along with all kings of wildlife

The warm sunshine of Sunday afternoon proved too much to resist as I wandered off trail with the Case boys to enjoy the Spring Beauties.
Nice outing Frank !
No wildlife blooms here yet however we are looking forward to the White Trilliums carpeting the forest floor in early spring.
They only last a short while. Once the tree canopy starts filling in and blocking the sun from reaching the forest floor they go away.
here’s my new Sierra knife thanks to Modoc ED on its first Sierra trip
Love the Sierras 😍
Bring memories of similar vistas from my childhood in the "Sierras de Córdoba" Argentina.
Great gesture by Ed and very generous of him, something he is well know for on the Porch.

Great you got to take the forum knife on this outing:cool:

No pics from me today amigos, too miserable outside still ... but soon :)

:D:thumbsup:
Half a point - for seeing the knife at all, and for getting the brand correct, but it is actually a large stockman with the standard blade configuration…

I'll take the half point :cool:

Your knife reminded me of my own medium Case stockman with square bolsters and pen blade instead of standard spey.
I got in 2018 after a long thought out process comparing pretty much all the main traditional models :)

I was new to traditional knives and wanted JUST TWO that would cover and check as many boxes in the traditional world as possible.

I settled on that medium stockman and a Case large Trapper in smooth antique bone.

I thought I had it all covered :

Stockman and Trapper ✔️
Medium and large sizes ✔️
One in carbon steel, the other in stainless ✔️
One with smooth bone and the other jigged ✔️
One with two blades and the other with three ✔️
Clip, spey, sheepsfoot, pen/spear blades represented ✔️

Over the years the bone develop a slight "greenish" hue close to the bolsters and the color faded a bit

One of my resolutions for 2025 was to carry a traditional EVERY SINGLE day lol :D

Lo and behold, the first knife I picked on the first day of the challenge was that medium Case stockman.
Sadly it soon fell out of my pocket and I lost it :(

I looked EVERYWHERE, even went back and asked at the gym if anyone had seen it but no luck.

Three days later when getting out of the car I happened to look down and there it was close to the wheel of my car on the driveway.
I felt SO HAPPY !!!

I must have run at least a couple times over it with my car over the 3 days but it was still in one piece thanks to the snow.
Luckily, the snow had melted on that day which allowed me to find it.

A big snowstorm brought several inches of snow later that night which would have buried it once again and much worse, I would have likely sucked it with the snowblower the next morning and shred it to pieces.

A bit of rust and dirt to show for it's reckless adventure :)

Nothing that a good cleaning and some Flitz could not handle.
The bone discolored a bit more after exposure to the elements and the driveway salt.

And this is the story of my ONLY TWO traditionals :D

Why go all the way to the Tidal Basin to see the cherry blossoms, when I can walk 20 minutes from my house to see that glorious, resplendent harbinger of vernal rebirth, Symplocarpus foetidus?

Easy-Peasy on the knife search. It's good to see all that green too.

I rather like the new look. And a knife that carries a personal adventure story is always a special knife, particularly if it survives intact. Lovin' that Pen blade.

Took the kick scooters out again for a lovely ride with my better half :)

We came upon a couple bunnies sporting mixed coloration on their fur as they continue to shed their winter coat.
I am sure they are just as tired of the long winter as we are !

Along for the ride my 2019 GEC #77 Barlow

I've been trying to knock out a few more ridge hikes before the leaves block the views for the season. This weekend, I took a short, strenuous section of the Benton MacKaye Trail to a few high points.

Off in the distance is a partial view of Blue Ridge Lake.

The knife of the day was my Redmeadow Cowbell.

The retired fire tower on Brawley Mountain is not accessible to the public, dagumit.

Spring is officially here after a long winter. The last river ice is decaying. No hordes of mosquitos yet; a fun time to scout the woods.

Question friends. What is Cmdr. B. here pointing? Answer is in he last picture.
