It was worth the second trip. 🤠

Returned home two days ago from hunting trip in the Huron Natl. Forest. Spent 7 enjoyable days there with two of my Mich, buddies archery hunting for deer. Did a lot of tromping through the woods when it wasn't raining, and it rained a bunch. Probably had 3-1/2 days of actual time in the woods due to the rain. Still we had a great time around the campfire, eating well, sipping bourbon and telling lies each night.:)

My friend's cabin & guest house in the woods, aka deer camp.

We found some Chicken of the Woods to add to the menu. My hunting partners pictured here, as you can see Mike was in awe as Chris held up the harvest for my pic.:)

I had these 2 knives along for the trip, both were regulated to camp duty and didn't make it out on my daily hunts.

A washed out trail that eventually got me deep into the woods where I set a stand to use when it wasn't raining.

Rotated my belt knife between these two while out in the woods.

And the last pic. Mike connected on the final day of our week in camp. He took this deer with a home made osage bow, cedar arrow and obsidian point.
Was a great week and I left with some memories that will stay with me for the rest of my years.:)

Thanks for sharing Greg !
I was quite intrigued about the obsidian arrowheads that you mentioned.
Watched a few videos about making them.
Fascinating !

Wild Flowers

I'll share over the next few days some of the photos I've taken of my knives with wild flowers I've encountered along the trail over the past couple years.
My ebony lamb will be heavily featured :) however let's start with the very first one of my Pioneer X :)

My friend and i hiked the mount Ham yesterday. It was a nice day to go hicking, The air was cool and the sun was out. Almost all the leaves were on the ground but it was still beautiful. All outdoor enthusiasts will be delighted by the different levels of difficulty offered. Intermediate to expert, the marked trails crisscross the mountain over 18 km. The Mount Ham dominates the region with its 713 metres above sea level. The dazzling 360 degree panoramic view over 3 regions is the reward awaiting you after climbing to the top.

That is absolutely stunning views, this is a great thread.

First pic is of the White trillium (Trillium grandiflorum), also known as the wake-robin and the white lily, officially adopted as Ontario's floral emblem in 1937.

( Please, do not judge me or make light off my immediate family given nickname 😄 ... I may be "Dany" to them but to the Porch I am "Dan" OK ! :p )

Thanks for the kind comment, Dan. :) You can't underestimate the sharpness an obsidian edge will take. The folks that learn the skills to turn a rock into a deadly cutting tool have a talent I wish I had.
