Photos A Walk in Nature

great pictures. quick Question about the English knife, I have noticed the ricasso on it sticks out a little more than I have seen on similar American knives, is it so that part hits the back spring and not the blade? I assume not stop pins. Just curious as I admire this knife in the gorgeous picture.

Thank you :)

The knife is a standard Ebony A. Wright & Sons Lambsfoot.

The kick on my lambsfoot knives does give the impression to stick out more and has that very particular shape to them as compared to other American knives in my collection.
Interestingly my German made "Otter" has a kick very similar to my lambsfoot knives.
The kick does prevent the blade from hitting the spring and there is no stop pins.

Incidentally your comment reminded me of a picture shared by Randy Bell in another group in response to a question I had.
I believe, if I am not mistaken, he was involved in designing Waynorth Cutlery Lambsfoot made by GEC.
The American made lambsfoot was based on the English Lambsfoot shown in the middle of the picture .

He mentioned that it came very close to an almost perfect replica. When I asked him what was different he pointed to the kick and the two rattails.
He mentioned that GEC's owner had decided not to implement them.

For all things Lambsfoot make sure to check the "Guardians of the Lambsfoot " thread  :)

Cool pics Josh  ... and the first 2021 forum knife going for " A Walk in Nature" :)
Canada customs is probably playing with mine for a few days before they let it go. I can't wait :)

So my better half and I went for another 10 km walk this evening as we try to take advantage of the nice fall weather before the dreaded "white stuff" descends upon us ❄️ ;)

I was also on a mission to take a picture of my 2019 BF knife with it's new pouch beautifully made by my friend Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery :)

Shades of Autumn 🍂

My wife and I went for a 10 km walk on our local trail. We left right after work and got back to the car at sunset.
Days are definitely getting shorter.

Brought my HHB along

Great photos, Dan!

Does it count as a “walk in nature” photo if I could take two steps back and you’d see my trash cans and the electrical service drop to our house? 😁

MERLE !!! 😍

Merle is King 👑 my friend !

He can do whatever he wants  , especially since he has graced the pages of this humble thread  :D

I can not wait to take His Highness on "A Walk in Nature" 🙂

Part one

I cant walk far so its more like an amble in nature for me,I have to be careful I dont fall.
Though I see it as a positive, wherever I am I take stock of all around me and realy take it in.
The sun was out and I wanted see some golden leaves as opposed to the mouldy ones around my way.
I was being quiet and hoping to spot deer no luck, but I was able to watch red kites hunt as they whistled at each other.

No luck finding acorns either.

Part 2

In the old lord of the manors estate now privately owned by people who kindly let us visit.

Time for a coffee and trying out a coffee bag,yes I could have brought a flask but where is the fun in that?

I like to try out different methods of fire lighting and equipment.

Like a lot of old soldiers of my generation I love the smell of hexamine but it makes such a mess I have moved away from it.

I used a old MSR pocket rocket which I bought from that auction site S/H.

My cereal packet windbreak worked much better than the purpose built item which is to low.

It was very windy a lot of trees where blown down, the bench I was sitting on I rescued from the bank of the river where the wind had blown it.

Yes I Love the knife but was worried about dropping it and losing it in the long grass/scrub.

That's the beauty of the F&F sodbuster in orange with a yellow paracord lanyard far less likely to lose it.

I usually take a SAK farmer for the saw,the saw also doubles as a ferro rode striker most GECs wont strike.

Always 3 methods of fire starting with me,thats a old film canister with coffee creamer.

There is tons of them :) ... I don't think they know me or care about me really LOL :D ... basically we have agreed that I bring them food and they allow me to take pictures for the Porch LOL 🤓
I have tried so many times with English birds maybe our birds are just to cautious.
