A WINNER!!Flat Beveled Bolsters or, What's in a Name? Clarification added!!

Well, since my suggestion got no love, I'll add my vote for faceted. Classy and very descriptive of the actual bolsters.

Sorry for the group pic, it's the only one I could come up with. The stag Queen in the corner is a flat bolstered knife, without the crisp beveling. It looks similar to the Schrade you posted.



I'll try to come up with a better one when I get home.

I like Flatiron, as Pima Pants posted. My suggestions would be "flat-milled" or "flat-stamped".

I like that knife, very nice pattern and the lines are sleek. I'd call that type of bolster a "smooth corner" bolster.

I agree that "Flat Bolsters" means just that - flat bolsters.
But when you put a chamfer on the bolsters, and carry it around the knife, that is a whole other ball game. Not many can grind and finish that shape - it is finished free hand - and keep it consistent all the way around!
