A wonderful pair!!!

That one is the 2nd best. I am kind of surprised that you can get that much contrast with zdp-189 being true stainless. Is it just a acid etch or did you use some kind of coating? Also the bond line looks different is it still copper?

Any chance of a coated or G-10 handle down the line? The standard Shallot is a little slippery.

Yeah, I really like both of them except for the one that looks like it has clubs on it.

I agree the smooth one really matches the flow of the rest of the knife. I'd take it as is.

When you have the black coated handles around, could you throw that blade in to see what it looks like? My quickie photochop probably doesn't do it justice.

You should try for a spades shape instead of clubs, go for a poker themed Shallot. ;)

Would there be any corrosion issues with the ZDP being uncoated?

Eh, I still think the clean, smooth junction fits the knife better then almost any pattern.

This thread sure has turned into a hotbed of info! I like all the composite blades. My only concern is with corrosion but a little Tuff-Cloth should handle it.

KD, I don't have photoshop, so could you do a little work on this just for grins? Leave the handle black, but start a silver edge from between the lanyard hole and first torx screw, and run it along the top of the handle? Sort of like a "reverse" image of the blade? That combined with silver torx screws might look really cool...

I see that I haven't interpreted your thoughts correctly(I handle is inverse), but I haven't got the time now to alter my version.
 
man, i was just trying to deny myself pulling the trigger on a PE silver shallot and now im gonna have to wait for one of these. i am a complete addict for ZDP, but i haven't wanted the leek as my EDC tasks tend to be slightly less delicate (besides i have ener-gs for that). just thinking about zdp gives me that warm fuzzy feeling like hot chocolate when its snowing out.
