A word about the warranty process.

I don't wanna quote Jeff without being 100% but I think he once said They give away more knives than they actually replace due to warranty.
Jeff, sorry if I misquoted you but the point that I am making is They are not worried about people like this screwing up there name/warranty. You really got to love a company that will go out of their way to keep people happy!!

The obvious solution seems to be this; make all the ESEE lineup in pink only. Hopefully that'll turn the warranty abusers off buying them in the first place. :)

The more I deal with the public the more I realize that there is a major shortage of common sense in this country.

Life is tough, and even tougher if your stupid. :)

The problem with common sense is that its not so common, and can be selective;)
 
These ESEE knives are made to be used and used well, with some respect of course. When the coating is wearing off from use that shows history and experience in my opinion. I feel turning it in and making it new again (unless something happened to the blade) washes away all those memories and years of experience you worked and played so hard to have. It's like a black belt from way back in the day, the belt got black from years of experience, sweat, blood and some earth. The worse thing a martial artist could do back then was to wash their belt, they where washing away all that experience if they did so. I feel knives/gear are allot like those old black belts.
 
So, Mike, Jeff, what do you guys do with the knives wrongly sent in under warranty? We're probably hoping for a garage sale, but maybe you don't want to lessen the perceived value of your knives by selling them at a discount. Or maybe you could use/abuse them, leave some animal blood and guts on them, sign and date one side and have your partner sign/date the other side with an electric engraver, then sell them ABOVE list price as "ESEE Staff Field Tested". A brief handwritten note on the foolish return of the knife, and your fun with it would add to the value. Just a thought...
 
Mike - Jeff - I have said this and I will again. I would like you guys to remain in business till I am pushing up daisies and beyond. You will not be able to do that by catering to the folks who abuse the warranty.

But I guess that's why you guys are the best!!

That's quite a sad statement on that guys attitude. What ever happened to buying and caring for, and heaven for bid, repairing a tool by yourself. Sometimes bad stuff does happen and it goes well beyond repair, but really how sad men can be!

I remember that thread - the OP mentioned how the seller had said that breaking the knife and getting a new one under warranty would give him a new knife after buying it secondhand - but the OP had no interest in ripping off ESEE like that. I had respect for the OP of that thread, but disgust for the lowlife seller he bought it from.

I wouldn't bother with the warranty unless the knife was actually flawed - but I do like the fact that ESEE openly state that they will stand behind their products 'no matter what'. This makes me think that ESEE are honorable and have great confidence in what they are selling. I will soon be buying a Lite Machete - they didn't make the blade, but it must be good or they wouldn't be selling it! I have confidence in ANYTHING ESEE sell because of their attitude shown by their warranty - their philosophy means more to me than the warranty itself.

I caught that the OP was on the up and up there, which makes me glad that he's a forum member. I really hope the seller is not. Thanks for clarifying though. I'd hate to accidentally give the OP a bad rep.
