A Wright Barlows--Flat sides vs rounded?

Edit - Just had a look at the TEW website, and it still gives their address as Milton Works, but they certainly AREN'T there
That is where I started my hunt, but seeing that address I knew it wasn't right (from following your posts elsewhere).

Sorry Bart, my post was very confusing! I meant Harry got one of the TEW Barlows about a year ago! Sorry about that. I remember he had some difficulty contacting TEW, but it was all good in the end

Here's the new TEW premises to be, an old Sheffield City Council unit. I'm not certain, but it may even be where I worked when I first left skool!
No worries! It will be nice to have them up and running soon!

At least one of the shops in Sheffield has one of the fancy MOP Russell White/TEW Barlows in stock, and a few other 'Barlows', including one by Egginton/Rodgers, which has a bolster half the width of the Wright one! It's clear that some folk in Sheffield think a Barlow is just a jack knife with a Clip! A shame they have to spread their ignorance around the internet! o_O

Such a shop should be right famous by now! I have seen the pearl TEW knife wistfully a time or two, but one could order a Wright's #60 (flat or round) and an Oakedge and for the total cost (including shipping). Not that I have not considered doing so, it is quite a looker!

Yes indeed! :D I have also admired those knives a few times, but the prices are rather high

Went ahead and ordered a flatside Wrights #60. I have noticed that Oakedge are having a clearance of cosmetic seconds on their stag workback Barlow that seems based on the Wright's knife, but have not yet pushed the button on that one....

The Wright's flat side arrived several days ago, and I really enjoy the feel of it. The handles are nicely beveled all the way around. The blade was a bit off center, but doesn't touch the liners, so not an issue for me. The blade sits high enough closed that it is easy to pinch open, even with a good stout spring. Nothing fancy, just a good solid build that carries quite well in the pocket. I think the middle sized bolsters help keep the weight down somewhat, but it does resemble some of the Sheffield "Bunny knife" patterns made for the Australian market perhaps more than the usual image of a Barlow. It certainly takes quite a good edge too!
