A youngsters new knife, a GAW GAW- WINNERS ANNOUNCED IN POST # 38 ( hint everyone won)

I'm in. I've been trying to get my goddaughter away from throwing stars and other ninja "stuff". Maybe a quality pocket knife will turn the tide.
Pocket knives are great, but Ninja stuff is cool too!

By the way, not entering--my youngest is 17 and has a small collection of traditional knives, and my granddaughters are too young (oldest is 5), but this is a great GAW.

Hello Everyone,
I hope this finds all you and yours safe and healthy as me and mine are. I am in the process of changing the direction my collection is going and in doing so find myself with a bunch of knives I am going be parting with. A lot of them I will post for sale ( some I already did) and some I would like to pass along to some young folks.
I have already set aside all I will need for future grand children. All my nieces and nephews are wanting something different then knives this year and there isn’t a teen boy or girl in my neighborhood that hasn’t been gifted a Buck 303 at some point or another. So I am coming to the porch for help. I have 5 brand new( only two in boxes) Buck 303 medium stockman knives that need to become a youngsters first real pocket knife or is ready for an upgrade. These knives are from the early 90s so they are 3 spring easy open with that great flat grind. Really the best pocket knife Buck ever made in my opinion.
The rules are rather simple, I am going to give these away so they can be given away. Only enter if you have a youngster in mind that is in need of his or her first real pocket knife. The knife can go to son, daughter, niece, nephew, the kid that mows your yard or the one that bags your groceries. Perhaps you know of someone from a less fortunate family that has a young man or woman that just needs a pick me up or a job well done. You get the point. I want you winners to make a memory for someone that they will carry for a lifetime like someone did for us.
I’ll leave this open for two weeks ( I’ll close this on Mother’s Day ) to make sure everyone has a chance to think of someone then I’ll choose 5 by random number generator and send them out to the name and address given to me in pm when the winners are notified

Ps. I’ve chosen stockman to help keep These best of the old knives in minds and pockets of the next generation...and it’s all I collect.View attachment 1330230
My neighbor's three sons all have a knife collection. They love my knives. They all make straight AAAs in private school. My folks are elderly and feeble. They help us with the big yard , tomorrow. The smallest nine year old received a killer new bicycle last year. I gave him a Great Eastern Cutlery #93 Rams Foot Cocobolo knife last year and he ignored the bicycle. The bicycle is never used in the garage and the knife is in his pocket.

May I have your attention, May I have your attention please?

Well it’s been a couple weeks so it’s time to draw the winners for this GAW GAW.

I decided I would list the post # for each entry into a list randomizer and then the top 5 would be the winners. I counted and I only received 8 entry’s total and that is only 3 more then I was going to give away so it just seemed silly to just help give 5 kids a knife when I could just as easily help give 8 kids a knife so that’s what I’ve decided to do.
Below is the list the random list site spit out so the first 5 will recieve the promised and pictured knives. The final 3 will receive 3 different knives. Still 303 just not the pictured. Two are from Ducks unlimited runs and one is a new 95’ that could use a bit of polish as it wasn’t stored well before I bought it. I believe it’s new just needs cleaned which will be a great lesson in showing a youngster to care for a knife!

So without further ado...

What a great giveaway, way to go.

I firmly believe every kid should start with a traditional knife, start with a modern folder and they may never learn to appreciate a two handed traditional knife or anything that doesn't lock.
Starting with a slipjoint I learned how to use a knife safely, had I started with something that locks I may have gotten bad habits.
