a zombie killing knife. . . help me find one. . . .

Agreed. When dealing with zombies, there are protocols that one must follow! :D

I second the Yuna Zombie Slayer . . . my choice for the coolest blade ever made.

HI khukris are outstanding -- the chitlangi has the lightness of a sirupati with a flared bell shape at the end of the handle for a secure grip once your hands get wet (and they will).

You can hire crackheads to play the zombies in your film. Not only won't they need makeup or costumes, but if you actually hack em up they won't be missed.

hehehe. . . yeah, that blade that yuna made is pretty fantastic.

i just picked up a sirupati in one of their blem deals. . . and i'm looking forward to getting that. i'll have to check out the one you mentioned, but. . . man. . the idea of the ang khola 20 inch. . . .

hehe. . . .

that's too tempting to pass up.

i used to work at a drunk tank in town (dealt with all sorts of substance abuse related arrests actually) and. . . yeah. . . haha. . . i already know half of them. i could recruit easily!

An AK 20" is over 3#, isn't it? You could sprain your rotator cuff swinging that thing around . . . of course, you could also use it to build a log cabin.

haha, i think it can be all the way up to 5 pounds depending on the kami that makes it.

of course, it'll help to have a little bit of weight to swing through those zombies. . . . it'll also be nice to build my fortified structure to keep them at bay from the logs i chop with it -- you know. . . a real multi-use tool.

I'm with Glockman; a hawk and a larger knife would make short work of any zombies. Think of "Last of the Mohicans" fighting moves with half-decayed body parts and guts spilling everywhere and smashed zombie heads!

well, i was going to get one of those lagana tomahawks one of these days. . . .

you think pairing that with the sirupati khukuri would be a nice combination? have the tomahawk that would benefit from more precise powerful blows in the dominant hand while using the khukuri in the weaker (in most cases -- left) hand?

i guess one of the knuckle-knives (that's a trench knife, right?) could be used in the same way. . . .

haha. . . really, i guess it's all sort of an exercise in aesthetics and the concept of what MIGHT look good on film -- it's still not clear what -- if anything -- will get put down in a motion picture format. . . but, i think that i've got so many great ideas i could outfit a small group of survivors. . . with each person using the tools that suit them best.

speaking of which, if any of you get a chance to read "walking dead" -- those are some really great zombie comics (i guess i could call them "graphic novels" if that makes the more palatable). the premise is that these books fill the niche that explains what happens AFTER the major uprising and the normal people have to just survive.

so far. . . i have a couple characters that i might use in the shoots.

i have an old guy that's somewhat of a sharpshooter: he'll use the mosin-nagant m91-30. it's something that he's psychologically attracted to because it's what saved him during the uprising.

there's going to be a homeless guy that uses a tire iron/prybar to great effect.

i'm thinking of having a young woman use the sirupati. her backstory will actually be that she was on location and using it as a prop -- sort of a self-conscious nod that explains it away too easily, i know, but it made me laugh.

and then maybe some swat guy that's using the lagana. . . (but with you guys talking about the potential for some nice tomahawk fighting paired with the long blade -- i'm second guessing myself on that).

anyway. . . .

i can't thank you enough for all the answers. it's been a great help. don't feel the need to keep the thread alive needlessly, but i like the feedback i get from you. . . .

whenever i get a shot done, i'll put it up on here as well. . . . so. . . at least you'll maybe eventually get a little pay-off, right?

The moment I saw this movie, my first thought was a khukri. When you face a zombie, you have to sever limbs and open skulls, the zombie won't care about a stab wound or five anyway.

Make it happen.

I didn't see this thread when it first came up, or I would have recommended something from the Angus Trim Tactical line ...

They're so well respected in the sword industry, I can't see why they wouldn't do just as well with modern interpretations as they do with their classic Western ones.
