STEEL - AISI A8Mod (Bohler Chipper, Uddeholm Viking)

General Uddeholm Viking is a oil-air-vacuum-hardening steel which is characterized by: • good dimensional stability during heat treatment • good machinability and grindability • excellent combination of toughness and wear resistance • normal hardness in the range 52–58 HRC • ideal for surface coating (CVD, PVD) Exaggerated sketch of a typical punch and die in action. The chemical composition of Uddeholm Viking gives a hardness potential of 58 HRC with compressive strength and wear resistance accordingly. The small amount of primary carbides means a high chipping resistance and with 8 % chromium follows a very good hardenability and also a fairly good resistance to corrosion.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Bohler Stainless Steel N690 tool steel is very good steel.
But when hard is not very tough for heavy works especially with the tip.

So:
No rust, holds working edge long, easy to sharpen but not suitable for tanks or windows opening. You can loose the tip.

Perfect for kitchen, cutting, slicing or skinning.

Please consider this when buying.

Wow. Beautiful knives. I like your style. Have you ever thought of doing a single edged push dagger?

Thank you for kind words.
No I have not. It will be just a neck knife then ;) with strange handle...

So, this is more of a request borne of legalities, I think. At least where I've lived in the USA, double edged knives are pretty universally declared illegal for carry whereas single edged knives are not. The purpose of a push knife isn't put at a detriment by having one sharpened edge and an unsharpened swedge for example.....and would be legal for me to carry whereas if it was double edged it would not be.

May not be that way where you are at, but in the states it is something many people likely consider.

OK Do not know that. In Poland knife is the TOOL not weapon. We can carry whatever we want to. Even swords ;)
We can carry spring folders daggers....etc. But one has to be a VIP to get gun allowance.
Each country has its own laws... user has to know that for his own safety.

I can make the one edge dull ;) will not cutt anything; just the false edge or swedge as you call it.

Regards

Adam
