About How Many Times A Day Do you Use Your Emerson?

There is no other knife for me. It's Emerson or nothing. I've tried others and the just don't have it for me.

My Emerson knives are A+. I choose to keep them looking pristine and try to maintain that newer look. But that does't mean I'm hesitant to use them though, believe me.

I've figured out what it is that I'm trying to convey here.

When I read a post where someone has a cosmetic type of issue with their knives. It could be anything.

There's always a post about, just use it, it's an Emerson it's meant to be used, if you wanted a safe queen you should have bought this or that.

To me, I see the naysayers smiling because you're admitting to something that is not or should not be true. You're telling everyone that if they get an Emerson, expect a shoddy appearance and that it's alright with you because your Emerson isn't perfect either. This is insanity.

My Super Commander came out of the box in perfect, and I mean perfect, working order. It looked perfect and still does. I haven't done a thing to that knife except use it. That's what you get when you get an Emerson. Not something that is slightly off here and there.

Leading people to believe that these knives are anything but perfect just rubs me the wrong way. If there is an issue, Emerson always has you covered.

Wear and tear are a different thing altogether and does make the knife even cooler.

To be clear, i just see the whole use it and don't worry about it thing as detrimental to the reputation that these knives truly deserve. They are made for hard use and they look great too. They are the whole package.

Good post.^
But remember, there are different levels of understanding.
It took me awhile to realize what an Emerson knife truly is.

I feel the opposite. I've come to feel "just use it" sums up the group here. A laid back, we aren't too worried what others think, have a good time mentality. Emerson Knives are tough and capable of serious work, however they're also a hell of a lot of fun:thumbup:

At the end of the day, yeah screw it just use it:D

I'm trying not to do hijack on your thread man, but here's a point I was thinking about the otherday. Another reason I'm a Emerson user is I can replace it. If for some jacked up reason I miss place it, stolen, or just grows wings and is gone, I have the means to replace it. I make good a living but who wants to spend 400-500 and lose it or somebody steals it, I would loose my mind. It would be hard for the average Joe to drop that kinda coin without saving up. But 200 to 250 I think people can swing that alot easier. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I'm getting my point across. What do you guys think?

This is why there are so many companies out there that produce most things from cars, to motorcycles, to guns, to knives. If you don't like Harley Davidson, buy a Ducatti. If you don't like the 4 door passenger car buy a truck. If you don't like cheeseburgers go eat some fried chicken. You have choices in many things, what you don't have a choice in is forcing one thing to be something it is not. Life is too short to be so inflexible.

The latest models I've received have shown fantastic "fit & finish". Well centered, excellent scale to liner fit, perfect G10 checkering and chamferring, smooth pivots. My first direct from EKI was my Persian, and I was blown away by how PERFECT is was. My Bulldog, my Zealot, my Gypsy Jack and my Mini 15 are all 2014's and all are of fantastic quality in both function and aesthetics.

If our frame of reference on EKI F&F is from a few years back, you should check out the newer production stuff.

Oh, and I do have some I can't (yet) let get marked up (the Persian I frequently post for example) but others I use with no hesitation whatsoever (my CQC-10BTS and "HD-Horseman via Nath"). And really guys, 35 posts and no pic's yet? For shame...

I EDC two Emersons every day :) I use the Super CQC-8 many times a day for everything except a pry bar (i rotate BK's for that) and the Super Karambit is great for cable ties. I also fondle my knives. I just like the way they feel in my hand :)

Did you not see post 17! LOL

I think op is wanting to know why can't the same task be done with a knife with excellent fit and finish rather the Emersons "meant to be used" finish.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

They can. But it seems like from what I read in BF.....that most don't. I don't use my Emersons any different from my other knives. They are just what I prefer. Marketing has Nothing To Do With It.....at least for me it doesn't. If his knives didn't deliver when I whittle or do any number of cutting jobs everyday......why would I own one? I wouldn't.

I think you have to realize that the "rugged look" was a huge marketing tool for Ernest, and as unorthodox as it may seem his company is the proof that whatever he did worked.

Just as Versace and Gucci are able to convince people they need luxury goods with zero flaws, Emerson is able to convince knife users into buying not only his knives, but his mindset and philosophy. Search the forums, there's a few mentions from the horses mouth on this very issue.

Everyone has their own opinions of course. When I first saw an Emerson "in person" and in my hand.....I thought it was absolutely THE MOST PLAIN knife I had ever seen.

Rugged looking? Uh...OK...maybe? I guess? Not really. Not me at least. Just about EVERY knife I own IMO "looks" more "rugged" than either of my 7's.

It Is All About Performance. It is all about how that knife feels in my hand. It is about the ease of opening and closing. And those serrations....man oh man. And the utility uses of the tanto tip.....man oh man. All on a Plain Looking Black Handled Linerlock knife. What is not to love about it. Call me lucky but both of my knives were in impeccable condition when I bought them. Ernie can say whatever he wants to say....it's a free country. But if his knives "were all talk".... I wouldn't own one. It is that simple.
