For those confused by the above quote, that means "shop" or "serial" numbers on the blade are numbers 832-838.

Is the whole blade, from choil area forward, sharpened on the NYS models you have seen, or just the clip?

Here's a Loveless piece which Knife Legends identifies as a New York Special "Type II".
It has a 3-1/8" BL and is about 7" OAL. Wonder how the Type II is different form the standard?

Here's a Hide Out which has a 4-1/8" BL and is about 9" OAL.

Would it be safe to say that visually the handle on the Type II NYS has more subtle curved lines instead of the more defined angles on.. lets say Charles Vestal NYS...

Charles... does that mean your style of NYS is a Type I - meaning the original NYS design?

I've tried to find a pic of an original Loveless NYS Type I but could only see the Type II. It seems the Type I design is more favored by knifemakers then the Type II

Yes the New York special on my home page is based on the Type I design.

Thanks for the link Charles... with regards to the sharpened top edge, is your version sharpened the full length of the top edge or only the length of the clip?

Also if anyone can confirm the original NYS Type I & II, where they sharpened fully on the top or partially at the clip?

Just the clip is sharpened on the New York Specials I've made so far.
