i told seller not to register it or insure it in case of the high tariff and VAT TAX

This is where you went wrong !

Paying import tax is a pain, every one hates it, but its way better than loosing a few hunded bucks on a lost or stolen package.

Live and learn.:(

Im not sure if its the same for mainland China but in Taiwan I have bought a few knives worth about the same as a Seb and never had to pay anything on the full declaired value.

Hope you get something worked out

lachine, your package may be in China now at Customs. Once it left the US there would be no way for USPS to know where it is.

We can't know what might delay it in Customs, but with the Olympics coming up and an earthquake emergency now, they may have a heavier than usual workload.

i have paid 17% VAT tax and 10% tariff on benchmade 740 purchased not long ago, so i'll pay USD103 for VAT and tariff,it is too high, yes ,with the approaching of olympics, the customs strengthen the check of imported item.in terms of the earthquake,it's likely one factor .pray for our stricken landman.

It is infinitely more likely that the Chinese post lost it - NOT the USPS. All USPS has to do with foreign airmail is put it on an outbound airplane. Call your Customs office.

Usually, there are several different handlers in chain between sender's and addressee's post offices. (Maybe not the case with USA-China as both are fairly large countries, but in Europe it is common practice).

Then there is a chance it just went wrong way (mishandled) and it will appear after some time.

i have contacted with my local customs, but they also say they have no method to trace the priority mail@intenational

I mailed a Brend to China once. It was a $2800.00 dollar knife. It took a little over a month for the guy to get it. So I would give it a few more weeks.

I pray that your stricken landman are going to be ok.

Customs can trace the package with the customs number once it arrives in country. Even sent priority mail it could well be in transit. The customs number, going through customs, will be the only way to track it.

Hey bro.
I was hoping that you would be on Scrap Yard forums, after I heard of the earthquake I wondered if you were ok.
Good to hear you and your son are alright.

Yeah, but that package was mailed in New Jersey (according to the USPS Track & Confirm site) and the International Mail Center is in New Jersey so there would be very few handlings in the US. The US does not tender foreign mail to any country other than the country of destination. The international treaties that allow for the payment to foreign postal adminstrations, via the terminal dues reconciliation process, for delivering mail for which the USPS collected the postage, do not provide for payments for intermediate handlings by other countries. They call the payments terminal dues because they are only paid to the terminus country.

I sure hope it's just some kind of temporary delay - I hate hearing about peoples' goods disappearing in shipment.
