About to buy a Manix, but

can someone tell me if it is an uncomfortable carry clipped to the inside of your jeans at the waist? I carry my Grip and Al Mar Eagle that way and I can feel the Grip, but it's not uncomfortable. The Al Mar disappears, it's so thin. I don't like to carry it anywhere else, ie, back or front pockets. How thick is it? Thanks.

This kind of carry will not work well with this knife. Still get this knife as its a real fine tool, I have a mini and I beat it daily at the body shop. I pocket carry it in jeans rt front

I was in the same situation and went with the mini manix. It carries very well. The full size manix imho was too big for edc. The mini is great, it is a tank!!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'd say it's a definate no then. This is a big deal to me, so I'll have to think it over. Maybe the Military or if I could get a good deal on a used large Sebenza... How's the Military carry clipped to the inside of your jeans at the waist?

Been EDC'ing my "Mini Manix" clipped to the inside waistband at center hip since I received it last month. This mode of carry is quite comfortable for me, even when sitting. My only worry is that the G-10 grips will eventually abrade the dress pants and shirts I normally wear to work. I have been toying with the idea of lightly sanding the grips but so far have resisted. You just cannot go wrong with this knife.

Inside the waistbandcarry : Policemodel since 1989
changing to Military since 09/2002...

Don't let the big size fool you, it's very thin. I carry it just behind the hipbone.
I sometimes forget I'm carrying it.

Can't even tell I have my Native in my pocket most of the time. Extremely light and quite thin. Something to think about, altough if your looking at the manix I might think the Native blade may be a little thin/weak for you.

My Al Mar is great for slicing foods, etc. My Grip is a good general purpose EDC. Now, I'm looking for a really stout, bigger folder, one that I can leave the fixed blade home if I so desire. Manix was looking to be it, but if I'm not carrying it, it's doing me no good. Military is what I'm looking into now, probably will settle for that but would have loved for the Manix to be a good waist carry. I am a batoner and have used my Grip lightly, but was hopely for something much stronger than the Grip.

I love the Manix and it is a great carry in the front pocket of jeans. But if you go Military and end up with a CF BG-42 you will not feel like you settled.;)

The Manix is only 1/2" thick so it is not bad. I can't Imagine it being comfortable IWB but few knives would be of this size. I bet a SS Police model would feel like it wasn't even there.

I do have a CF Military as well as the Manix and I can agree, if you get the CF Miltary, you might just prefer it over the Manix. It is a great knife that packs a lot of preformance into a feather weight package.

I had a Manix (until someone from UPS stole it while it was on it's way to Spyderco). I carried it in the front pocket with no problems. I wear semi baggy jeans. I know a lot of people have problems with it in the front, but I didn't. It will be noticeably heavier than the 2 knives you have though.

You might try the smallest version of the CRKT M16, I think it's the 11K, it's really thin and a good folder in general. Plus, it's very cheap.

I found those M16's to be really nice when I tried them out in the store. Although the flipper is over rated. Only problem is I can't justify spending more on an AUS8 blade than on those Byrds.

I carry my C95 Manix in my right front pocket at work quite often. My wardrobe consists of loose fitting denim carpenter shorts most days and I hardly notice it's there. I'll admit that I like heavy, thick knives so the Manix is perfect for me. I'm a big guy (275) so a few extra ounces don't make much of a difference on me.

I don't mind the weight, it's the potential bulkiness that I'm worried about that could cause me not to carry it. I really want a strong folder this time around. I'm looking at a Manix CE in the exchange area for $90, any opinions on the CE for Manix. I'd rather have a PE, but $90 is a good price. Also, I'm not really understaning the CF Millitary, why is it so much more expensive? Thanks guys, helping me spend my Christmas bonus and all.

The materials on the CF Mili are more expensive. Spydies are known for their utilitarian superiority (at least as far as I'm concerned) over similarly priced and even some more expensive knives. While on the other hand, they have been known to disregard or ignore the asthetic factor when designing their tools. The CF Mili, as well as other CF sprint runs, are where Spyderco puts an outstanding effort towards both. Simply put they took a classic model, prettied it up and made it a little stronger (I believe), making it more desireable (at least that's the idea).

I actually am most fond of the Manix IWB and find it is too cumbersome for front pocket carry as I use it. I'm 6'3, 225# if it matters...

It is so warm, when first using it after IWB carry, that the G10 feels almost alive. Is that too much information? ;)
