ABS Knife Show San Antonio - What are you bringing?

All the cowboys I know would say those spurs are too fancy to use and buckaroos spend too much money on their gear, but that's amazing work. I hope it's still there on Saturday when I get there.

I only have a couple knives for sale(pics later today), but I am bringing a very detailed 50 page power point presentation on the construction techniques I use for frame handled knives.

Why they scheduled you and Kevin Cashen's seminar on heat treating at the same time, I'll never know. Why not opposite ABS history, which is interesting but skippable for you or Kevin any day of the year? Anyway, I decided to give Kevin the snub, since I know more about heat treating (which I learned from Kevin in this and other forums) than frame handle construction. I'm very much looking forward to the seminars, and to meeting some of my favorite makers.

See you tomorrow!

I love Larry's use of straight laminate, that is carved to reveal the pattern. This is an apparently simple technique which is one of the most elegant use of damascus, still. We don't see this often enough.

Well, it doesn't get much more "There" than that Buckaroo set by Larry.

By "There" I mean at the top of the game. Larry and his good friend Tim Hancock set the standard.

Another mind-blowing display of Larry's skills at carving...well, EVERYTHING! That display and Mike Q's Powerpoint on how he does his frames would make it worth the trip to San Antonio just for the learning experience! Now I REALLY wish we were going to be there:(

I will Be sure to wash my hands very well before stopping by Larry's table I would not want to get any paw prints on the bowie. If I remember right last year Larry had a small dagger that was from western folklore and a sweet little push dagger his table was just down from mine so we had a chance to chat a bit next to me was my friend Gary House. Gary has some great stories if you can get him to tell them. I will see you all soon and for the folks that cant make I will try and get a few Pics.

I just heard from the Fuegens that the Bowie from the set won the "Best Bowie" award at the ABS Show.

That Fuegen bowie is outstanding in every respect - congrats on the award.

When did they start giving out awards at the ABS show, anyway?
