Accidental opening.

Sure. Not often, but it happens. Ouch!

Part of the knife guy gig, I guess? There are safer hobbies of it becomes too much.

Any kind of wave opener requires extra caution . Until proper handling becomes habit .
yeah, imo, it seems to be an all in or nothing concept. i do appreciate the innovative design, but just never warmed up to it and it doesn't seem to lend itself too well to occassional carry.

"10,000 times" , to begin with , for instinctual / automatic / reflexive response under stress of combat , is what I was taught . 🤷‍♂️

Complicated by the need to draw the waved knife without opening , when attention is unwanted .

Also , if you miss the hook and fail to wave open , you must automatically default open by gravity / inertia (my choice ) or some other way .

I hardly ever miss anymore , but I've done this for many years .

Perhaps not obvious, is that longer and heavier blades are actually easier to work , with wave or gravity opening .

I had a benchmade griptillian fall apart in my pocket. Back in the day I bought it for 91.00 and not soon after one day after the purchase my pocket was a lot more louder than it made sense to be, turns out the knife fell apart in my pocket and i pulled it out in pieces. Took me years to give BM another chance, I could be wrong but in my opinion knives shouldn't fall apart while clipped to your pocket--- anyways other than that I was never kissed by the bird's beak

Yes.
Detent got some pocket lint in it on a very sharp ZT.
Blade opened as I was pulling up pants getting dressed.
Got about 30 stitches on outside of shin.
Still makes me think every time I put pants on.

One of the reasons why I like lockbacks or triadlocks is that you can pretty much rely on them staying closed. Especially at work you got situations where you need to cut quickly and rather drop the knife loosely to pocket than taking time to clip it.
