Active Duty test?

Did CS change the specs for the SRK? All the ones I've ever seen (carbon V) have been 3/16(~.187), which even with a thick coating shouldn't measure more than .20

I just double checked and yes, it definitely blows right on by .20 and is .21 - .22 at the ricasso right over the Carbon V/USA stamp. About spec changes, I have no idea beyond noting this is an older model sold with a flimsy leather sheath (which I replaced with the hard plastic sheath when that came out).

Theonew,
appreciate the viewing and the offer, but its not quite what I am looking for. I agree that viewing the picture drives home the problem of a conventional drop sheath with this small a blade when the handle is both longer and heavier than the blade. I hadn't realized till looking at the picture that any sheath for an AD pretty much has to enclose most of the handle, or else the sheath has nothing to hold on to. I just experimented with the (nylon cloth kydex type liner) sheath of the Buck 692 as it too hides the handle. Took a little pushing but the AD did get in there. I think I am leaning that way, but with an adjustable easy off belt loop like on the new hard plastic SRK sheath (or even a metal quick release, like on the back of my old Bianchi UM-84 holster). Yes, $30 may well be a pipe dream for a decent AD sheath, but I will keep looking. This photo is probably heresy to some, but is fairly close to what I am looking for.

No problem, it just occurred to me that I have this extra sheath when I read your post earlier. I completely understand how important getting the right sheath is. :D

With kydex, the AD can be retained just by the guard and not enclose the entire handle like a pouch sheath.

With a little scrounging around I managed to frankenstein this quasi-drop leg kydex rig for the AD:

Also another method which worked *quite* well was using a leather sheath already fitted for a Fjellkniven...The AD fits nicely!

Hey even an MrS can fit!
