Another person has an active duty on fleabay he claims has snakeskin handles. I tried to tell him they are green linen, but who am I. He says every one he's shown them to claims they are snakeskin as well.

I guess I need new glasses, or maybe to drink more.

Maybe that's what happened when they tried to re-create the snakeskin scales.

But yeah, in all seriousness, if I look really hard, I can definitely see how they look like snakeskin.
 
In that case, does anyone want to buy my Krein Regrind (cough, cough) "snakeskin" Scrofa?

 
The custom shop logo definitely looks exactly like the original run Custom Shop logo though. It is weird to say the least.

I had an AD that was exactly like that with the exception of the patina. I stuck it in a dishwasher, oiled the micarta, and did everything I could think of to make it look like snakeskin or tigerhide micarta (and I have had lots of both). IMHO, it never got close, but it did look like the old school green linen to me. Still, nobody from the shop ever confirmed it one way or the other. And due to a slight issue that I had no control over, the scales were recently removed and disposed of in lieu of a different "option". ;) So at this point, we'll never know for sure, but I still think green linen.

After running it through Lightroom, I still think it's Tigerhide micarta.
 
None of my tigerhide handles look that good. I only wish they did. The blade looks double cut, so we know it isn't one of the original run of Active Duty's with Snakeskin. All of those had Satin blades. But I think it is from that time frame because of the Custom Shop logo.

I still think Green Linen, but I would also trust Jaxx as he may have more Busse's than Jerry himself. (actually I doubt he does have more than Jerry) but I would still trust his opinion on handles over mine.
 
Hey Bill, do you have a full-height grind on yours? I just noticed that I DO on mine!!! Hmmm...
 
Now that I think about it, it reminds me of the Custom Shop Nuclear Active Duty I have that Jaxx said was tigerhide as well.

I wonder if you applied Mineral Oil to the handles if the dark areas would be red?
