AD 20.5 issues. . .

I have 2 of the 20.5’s and have had them apart multiple times for putting in stand offs, etc. They are extremely smooth. The springs I have measure .9785”
Ok, I’m going to take it apart again and measure the spring, thank you!

Not sure what other 20.5 springs look like, but at least in your photos, that thing looks quite stout. More like something you might find in a 1911 slide lock / safety tube.

Edit: Further, Shark Lock springs are notoriously easy to have shoot across the room. It wouldn't be impossible to imagine the previous own lost his, and simply replaced it with something he had around, or found in the hardware section at ACE.

Not to mention the OEM coils don’t look nearly as stout. Of course that’s hard to gauge in a picture but I think we might be on to something.

Gotta give credit due where it belongs. :)

Ok so this one is actually shorter but has way more coils. Definitely not the same spring. IMG_8435.jpegIMG_8434.jpeg

I have a sneaking suspicion I know what happened, but I’m not worried about it, it’s easily correctable by ordering new springs. . . Thank all of you guys you’re all legends! 😁👏🏻👍🏻

Once you get the correct spring in, I think you will be very pleased. I am not a ‘fidget-knife’ guy, but those blades will have you flicking them open and shut with a grin on your face.

Come to think of it, I tried an AR15 detent spring in a Shark Lock once and it fit but jammed the action up pretty tight! I concur with everyone else...you got the wrong spring in there!

That’s awesome to hear buddy. Love this knife and the entire concept of its mechanism. I totally am a fidget-knife guy. Sitting here fidgeting as I type!

Can’t wait to get it dialed n so. Can give this guy a rest. . . 🤣

The new AD 20.5 smooth is here and I’m pretty stoked about it! I also got the three OEM springs and as you can see from the pics, I think we can definitively put the mystery to rest. The spring that came with this knife was not an OEM spring. The spring on the bottom is the OEM. The smaller one on the top despite being smaller is much stouter and requires much more force.

I just switched it out and it now works perfectly. Awesome little knives! Now I need to get a full sized AD 20 and maybe a Shark-a-Tac to boot. . . IMG_1396.jpegIMG_1397.jpegIMG_1398.jpeg

I'm sorry...that would constitute too much excitement in a short time frame. You'll have to restrain your ardor until the judges have delivered a verdict on your ability to handle the stress.
