Adam has upped to a Knifemakers Membership, but hasn't figured out how to post photos yet, So I offered to post these for him.

11 1/2" blade, walrus ivory handle and blued steel guard and ferrule. The blade is 2 1/8" wide and .355" thick at the guard, with lots of distal taper.

Sorry guys, something happened to the photos on my web host. I have something to do right now, but will fix it ASAP.

Thanks Keith.
I am not very savvy on the computer.(they don't forge well)
Sorry I don't take better pictures. I'm just learning that too. Been in the woods a looong time!
Adam.

You can't fault Adam, they just got electricity in Alaska last week! But now that he's in the swealtering heat of AZ, he may no longer have an excuse! :p

GREAT knife!!! :D

Is that something like a 600 layer random pattern blade Adam? I like it!

This is a fantastic knife with really pleasing lines.

Keep up the great work Adam! :D

Thanks Nick
Still don't have electricity in AK.
The knife is actually only 288 layer random. It's just big and makes the pattern look tighter. This thing seems a lot bigger in person.
Adam.

I think this is pretty much my favorite of yours so far Adam - gorgeous bowie! I do look forward to seeing many more.

nice looking piece. the blade is a very nice looking piece of steel, but for me the ferrule is what stands out. very nice looking design - impressive.

Looks like somebody here is gonna give ol'Nick a run for his money!!!

I knew your knives were fine looking, but the quick pics in the magazines and the few pics that came back from the cutting contests only served to whet my appetite! I think one like that may be my next pursuit!

Welcome to BFC and congrats on some very nice work!

Any chance you'll make it to Blade West in Portland this year? Or Eugene next year???

I'm starting a piggy bank just for this project!!! :D

Damn, Adam. Before this spring, I swear I had never even heard your name. Now you are up on the big screen all the time... ;) Deservedly so. My oversight.

The eye magnet is all in the shapes: blade, handle, and that wonderful spacer behind or integral with the guard. Is that all one piece?

(Sidebar) Now, I think this was brought up in another forum once before. A 'ferrule' is a ferrule when it caps something. A 'spacer' is a spacer when there is no cap, but it simply butts up against the ends. I hear a lot of ferrule usage in custom knives, but I think that it is simply a fancier sounding name for what really is a spacer.

Si or no?

More precisely it is a ferrule when it is a wrap or band around the handle material, traditionally to hold it in place or stop it from splitting. What I, and other people have called a ferrule on custom knives is, in many cases, actually a "plug" or large spacer as you say, if it is only fitted over the tang and not wrapped around the material.

I owe this small bit of knowledge to a rather well versed, talented and extremely experienced knife maker, whom I will not embarass - but I would hate to take credit for something I was only recently informed of! :D

By the way Adam - that knife absolutely rocks ....... congratulations.

Stephen

Bold and masculine piece..all components flow so well together.Beautiful ivory
Congrats on a terrific blade bet she cuts too

WOW! That is some cutter! Very well proportioned for a big knife. I like the whole pakage. Great work around the guard too. The ivory looks like it grew there. Lin

Wow guys! Thanks for all the input.
To clarify: it is indeed a spacer, or rather a series of 7 spacers behind the guard. Ferrules are in fact more of a sleve, or cap on the end of something.
The filework on this one actually starts on the guard it'self, so it helps it look solid. In the bottom of each groove, there is a black spacer, sandwitched between the steel.
I'm really sorry I didn't register on this forum a long time ago, but as Nick said, no electricity at home in AK!
Thanks to Keith Montgomery for pointing the way.
As for shows, I would love to do Blade West, but won't make it this year.
I am thinking about BAKCA though, and am deffinitely going to be at Nappa.
I don't know much about the Oregon shows, but I love the state and would jump at a chance to do a show there.
