Adventures in Blade Land - PIC INTENSIVE

Well, I promised Ken44 and Jaxx that I'd post some pics of my purchases at Blade '07...

Remember, this is my first Blade ever. Also, I have no artistic skills -- which includes taking pictures. Finally, my back is currently 'out' as they say...so my dear daughters helped me out on Father's Day.

The good news: I got almost every one of the 4 - 5 knives I was hoping to snag [lost out on SH1 2007 Edition].

The better news: Mrs. OP decided I should buy a few more knives.

First: the prize knives! My youngest pulled the Queen of Diamonds at the Fogo Dinner, and here is a picture of my prize.

Mrs. OP was also fortunate. She wore an Aloha shirt to the Induction Dinner...and it was the closest match to Jerry's! So...

I think that, by now, you've seen close-up pictures of the various 2007 Special Edition knives. Here's an overview shot of my purchases:

With Mrs. OP's help, we picked up a few 'extras,' that will soon be on their way to the final owners. I hope they enjoy the SEs as much as we enjoyed oinking at the trough to get them!:thumbup:

The wife and I were also able to pick up a few customs.

I'm something of a Game Warden collector, so we tried to oink up a few at the trough. We had some success:

The Orange Warden is there to provide contrast with the two customs. I thought you might like a spine shot, as well:

The ADs and LMs were in high demand. Other than the LM SEs I picked up, I was only able to snag a single AD -- but it's an immediate favorite for me (blue for USAF!):

Mrs. OP did manage to out-yell enough Hogs to grab a single Custom Badger. It's a cool one!

It turns out Mrs. OP likes the toothy Busses...

After yelling myself hoarse, I finally got a Custom SFNO [NOPE -- Custom NO-E, thanks RWH]. I've been trying to find an SFNO since...well since I first found Busse...but I'm happy with this NO-E!

There were a number of Custom SOW Variants [NOPE -- this is a Custom SH1-A -- thanks RWH!]. I picked one up, blue of course.

Mrs. OP insisted we buy this one. It's large -- a Custom fusion of the Battle Mistress and the Bolo. Too cool.

Mrs. OP just reminded me that there weren't very many 2007 SE Argonne Assaults, so here's a simple shot.

I really think my mid-sized hands are too small for this monster.

By this point, I was way past my planned limit. Fortunately, Mrs. OP was having fun, so:

This was probably my favorite knife from Blade, so here's the other side:

I also managed to grab some toothy (flying?) Busses.

And...

Bonus points for anyone who can identify this piece of history.

It wasn't all Busse, though. I convinced J. Nielson to sell me one of his small Damascus camp knives:

I also bought one of Kiku's knives (Japanese smith). Is there a Talon Hole -- or is it something else? We let Jerry and Kiku figure this one out between them.

When I get more time, and my back feels better, I'll try to get snaps of my daughter's purchases!

BTW, in case you are interested, the first one looks like an E-handle NO ..... not an SFNO.
And the second one looks like a Custom ASH-1 ..... and not a SOW.

Truth is, Mrs. OP is a world-class shopper. Once she gets the bit in her teeth...watch out!!

In the press at the Trough, who knew WHAT we were buying -- or what it cost??! I was happy to get anything! I rather thought that was an E-handle -- but it's the first one I've touched, so I wasn't sure.

I'm glad that blue beast turns out to be a Custom ASH-1. Now...I can say I came away with an ASH-1 after all!

Not only of some of the best looking Busses I have ever seen(which, to be honest, isn't many), but of the fact that your wife not only tolerates your hobby, but she encourages and actively participates! My wife bought me a knife for Christmas and said, "this is the last knife you need, right?". Ha!

You must be one hell of a guy for those around you to support you so. My hat is off to you, sir.

I'm the same regular guy as the rest of you. Except I'm a physicist -- which makes me considerably more obsessive and obnoxious (Mrs. OP calls them my 'two obs').

Not really sure why she was so positive about it...but I am NOT COMPLAINING. We've been together for many decades now. We went through a lot during two long USAF careers and we've learned to appreciate (or tolerate) our differences. Is it the jewelry I've bought her all over the world? Who knows...

She did say she hadn't seen me that happy for a long, long time; meeting new people (the best part of Blade) and building a collection. It made her smile...so I guess I'm welcome to hang around with her, for a few more decades!

[Pretty sure she's going to want me to come up with some form of display system, now. That will be a challenge for someone as artistically deprived as myself!]

The second one is a nice grab as well ..... pretty cool knife. I was fortunate to hold this knife ..... even discussed the history with Jerry and the individual you got it from. BTW, what are the Bonus Points worth in terms of INFI.
