That might be a big part of it. Take your XM apart and polish it some, you'll see what I mean. I can flip my EDC open with zero wrist movement.

While I'm sure it would benefit from it, I don't have the patience to polish anything.

If I did decide to give it a go, how would you recommend I go about it?

I did it the easy way. Take the knife down, lube it with reel grease, put it back together. Then open and close it a couple hindered times.
 
I actually woke my dog up the other night by not flipping a knife.

I was watching tv, very steadily flipping and closing my Hinderer, clicking it open about every second and a half. I stopped for a few seconds to type, and the dog sits up and starts looking around. I start again, and she promptly lays down and goes back to sleep :D

Sounds like my friend. She's long since learned to skip asking if I have my knife on me, going straight to "Will you cut this for me?" :D
 
Well my 0200 blem should be here tomorrow. I want to do something like this, but in orange and black. I am waiting for a response from keeth, but in the meantime I figured this would be a good place to ask a few questions and get an idea on what exactly I want and what is possible to do. This thread is what inspired me to get a 0200 after all!
1. Is there a site that rival uses that I can get a better idea of the materials/patterns I can pick from?
2. Has anyone seen a functional wave feature put on this knife before?
3. What would go better with this pattern in orange, heavy stonewash or mirror polish?
4. When it comes to the bolster, does the original material have to have a solid patch of orange to have a solid orange bolster, or do you just sand down to the orange layer?
5. Can you add an aftermarket deep carry clip to the order?

Well that's all the questions I can think of for now. Anybody with some good input is welcome to answer!
 
I'd check Rival's sig, there's a link to some previous work he's done, it'll give you a good idea of the colors and patterns he uses. I've seen one 0200 with a wave mod, it was ugly as hell (IMO). I think acid/stonewash loos better than mirror every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Never seen a deep carry clip on an 0200, but I'm sure it's doable.

Hey rival, sorry if I seem impatient bud! I am not trying to rush you and I understand you are a busy man with a life. I am just trying to get my duckies in a row while I can. The wife will be gone for six weeks starting Sunday, so I will be playing single dad for that time. My schedule will be 730 - 5 so I can get him to and from daycare, so I had hoped to get it figured out while I was still able to go to the post office while it's open. I bought this knife specifically for you to pimp for me, so you should be proud of how skilled you are. If I were impatient, I would go to someone that doesn't pay as much attention to detail as you, but I would rather wait on a great knife than hurry up to an okay one. I look forward to your call!

Trust me, I know I can be a pain in the butt with my ocd and I have a hard time making up my mind, so I appreciate you being patient with me more lol. I am pining over what color to get in that pattern. I think the orange and black would be nice in the exact same pattern nevermore got, or with that new black and red g10 you made a video of recently. GRRRRRRRR decisions decisions..
