Some welcome additions from your "Waiter's friends"! Thanks s-k!
Deceivingly is much more of a word than wharnie, or swedgie Kerry!:D

Your Imperial and Camco knives are in great shape, Navi! I have that same can piercer on a Schrade fishing knife. Just the thing to open your canned milk out in the bush!

I thought it was a redundent bottle opener at first until I read "beverage can opener" on it. Fishermen needed a way to open their wobbly pops back in the day.

Yea, and I bet there were times when they needed to open their wobbly pops quick smart and lickity split, but quietly without all the yakkaty schmackaty or that would scare away the fish. :D

I love folksy talk

I've drunk a few, but never heard the term wobbly pop before! I must admit, I've been a bit wobbly in years gone by!!

Subtlety in advertising! Nowhere does it say so, but (I think) this is the old slogan for FTD.

Thanks for sharing that Spratts knife Rivit. I have the same knife. After seeing a good example, mine is poor in comparison.Looks like mine was sharpened a lot and taken apart at some point.

That Douglass shoe company was just like the one I had my eye on in the bay. I'll be looking for that pattern. Is that an IKCo.?

At least everything else is there, s-k. Nice knife.
Here's one where the ad won't wear off anytime soon<G>.

Up pops the advertising thread! Those long thin knives, simply made, are called melon or sausage testers. You often see them with a fruit grower's or fruit packer's name on them.
You also see them advertising a meat packer. I wonder why you need such a long knife for sausage?? Large diameter stuff, I guess.
The obvious long one, of these two Schrade Cut. Co.s, must be specially made for Polish sausage:eek:!!:D

Hey, the etch shows up! Doesn't always happen with this scanner. Confirms the stainless steel. Stainless is much more rare in the older Schrades.

Waynorth, that reminds me that I have several advertising melon testers around here somewhere. Not sure if it counts as advertising, but I picked up a Jimmie Allen fixed blade knife by Robeson today. I will try to get pictures up tomorrow. .

Rivit, I look forward to the pic, I have a Jimmy Allen 2 blade jack with beautiful bone handles, also a Robeson. If i can figure out the picture thing I'll post pic's as well.

Thanks,

Paul

I don't think I can top the Slotkowski Sausage one

I really wish they would bring back advertising knives
If a bank offered me a FREE knife
I would sign up for an account on principle alone....
