10/22 and a pitch fork. Food as it comes. Speaking of the 10/22, mine really needs a spa day. Looking real bad but it will airhole a zombie noggin.

You said it jde....and nydude too....politics play a big role along with liability. My mother still has a whole cupboard filled with expired canned food. We eat some at every family gathering according to her. We're still alive. I've heard it's also so the companies can cover their butts and keep selling and selling. Also helps to know how to properly can and dehydrate your own foods for long term storage.

I know its fun to blame lawyers, but Dole was selling basically canned fruit packaged as fresh (in plastic cups or something), and the expiration date was purely a marketing gimmick to make it look like fresh fruit.
