For a first Bowie you could also have a look at one of these, as i don't think you will find a better Bowie for the money.
And with a little work it will become an even better blade.

I have a 119 75th anniversary model that I was thinking about selling. I decided to keep it and I'm glad I did. It's one of those classic blades that everyone should have. Its probably the best $50 blade out there.

Hey mate I got something similar to that the cold steel Bowie machete it is a great cheap machete when re profiled.
