Advise on machete

tramontina is fine for undergrowth and shrubs.
get a usgi machete which has more heft
on account of a thicker blade stock
a rigid blade works better for wood processing.
so look it up...

Thinking about ordering one of these. I've been eyeballing that knife for over a year, you don't hear much about them around here.
Zombie Tools makes solid, well-built quality knives.

I think you don't hear much about them because of their name. It sounds rather cheap and gimmicky, but I assure you - their blades are serious.

Their website is rather tongue-in-cheek as well, but I love a company that has fun doing what they do.

I also have a Felon on order with them right now.

Check out gl drew's brokeback chopper too. Great maker sells on bf, good prices and quality. That's one I've been thinking of. Quasi kukri shape.

One of the blades I have been fiddling with during the pandemic is the Marbles Swamp Master, made by Imacasa, as is the Condor Swampmaster. The project is to sharpen the back edge of the point, like the Condor.

As I read this thread, it happens that my Tram 14” bolo is right next to my chair. This one is usually in my car. It is really nimble, and easy to pick up for light cleanups. The season is upon us. A few other blades showed up here over the winter that I look forward to trying out.

Swamp Master is whippy, but light. Good for grasses and light stuff without tiring you out and has reach. Sharpening the backside gives you a bit of billhook action and the handle shape lends itself to gripping from either side. And they look cool.

Tram 14" bolo is a very handy size and weight. I bought several when Survival PAX went out of business.
