AFCK/M4 Ain't no collecter now

That is not the same knife this thread is about. The one you linked to was a very small LE run of only 39 knives. And it won't be the first knife of that series someone will buy at that same amount.
A total of 239 of 806 series were done with CF scales. Of which 100 - Satin S30V blade, 100 - Gold Class Damascus, and 39 - BK coated S30V. Good luck finding any of them.

 What he said.

Couldn't someone just buy the regular version of the Benchmade, and ask a knife maker to duplicate the blade in CPM-M4? You can heat treat it to HRC 64, instead of Benchmade's version at HRC 60, although you can re-harden the Benchmade blade to HRC 64 as well.

If you don't like it, I'll buy it off you.

You wont find many knife makers willing to simply make an exact copy of an existing design like the 806, also why would you think it would need to be re-heat treated. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of blades being re-treated simply because one wanted it a few points higher, Its an awful lot of hassle. It does just fine as it is.

My friend had Paul Bos re-heat treat a couple of his blades 2-3 points higher and he noted improved performance from them. I like harder blades, like my new ZDP-189, even my VG-10 is HRC 62. They are easier to sharpen.

Where did this guy (cotdt) come from? Also, troll? ZDP-189 is easier to sharpen? Uhhh...

Relevant content: I wish I had an 806. A 154CM 710 is in my pocket now. This guy has OG status.

The AFCK made me see that knife design is more important than the relatively small differences between the high-quality knife steels. This thing just worked its way into my pocket and won't come out.

Bos knows his stuff.

I doubt he’s a troll. But there is a lot more to edge retention then simply how hard the blade is.

I wont even tell you what I wanna say when I think about you having the new 806 and me, well not…:D

Enjoy the knife!;)

I find that zdp189 is pretty easy to sharpen. It doesn't provide much of a burr, so there is little extra work required when moving from stones to the strop. Very 'crisp' when sharpening, no weak floppy steel to move back and forth until it comes off the edge.

My thoughts exactly.

Please name me a single Spyderco that sells out in a week and that sells on eBay for 50% above MSRP right after retailers run out of stock.

The AFCK is a classic, and had quite a following before this model configuration ever released- it will always command a high collector value. The recently released Manix 2 in carbon fiber/S90V configuration was released a few days ago and is going fast. Not sure if it is totally sold out yet but at around $170 shipped it is a heck of a knife. Not likely to sell at 50% above MSRP, but certainly capable of 50% or better over the typical $170 dealer price- not that it would really mean that much if it does. Own some of both, but this time my money went to the Manix in CF/S90V; AFCK is a classic and as nice knife, but at around $100-$150 less for the Manix (a super knife in every respect) it was a fairly easy decision. imho, Whether or not a knife can be resold on *bay bidding wars for 1.5-3x it's original fair market value doesn't mean very much. If BM put out a CF/S90V version of the AFCK, would it sell for <$200 street price?
