Africa...

I know you're looking forward to these with great anticipation Andy. Can't wait to see how everything came out.

Wow- your pet crocodile didn't make out too well mate! :D

That is totally.... hell IDK~ Nobody else has one I'm betting! Pretty incredible! So make it's jaws open with a touch sensor cause everyone's going to be tempted to touch it! my first thoughts.

It's going to end up under glass eventually. The top of the skull is a little fragile due to the damage sustained from the projectile (a 300gn .375 projectile at @2600fps will do that) its mostly intact, some bone was clipped ;) but also badly cracked from the pressure wave.

That Big Water Lizard is going make One Helluva Display under Glass!!!! Nice Shootin'

Andy just out of interest are our (southern Africa) Crocs similar to the Aussie variety? Size, aggression etc........?

They are a slightly different species, the Estuarine Croc is supposedly a little larger and more aggressive than the Nile Croc but I do think the difference is generally semantic. The Nile Crocs eat more people but that is more about the proximity of larger number of people to their habitat than a desire. An elderly lady (with onset dementia who wandered away from a home and too close to a well known croc habitat) was taken just this week here, I heard a statistic that a person is taken on average every second day along the length of the Zambezi. Lots of river, lots of crocs and lots of people. Those things do not combine here like they do there.

Wow. I had no idea it was like that. Of course it is a long stretch, but still.....

Did you get an extra 'thank you' when you killed that one then? It was big enough I'll bet it got its fair share some days.

Is it just me, or would the nose cavity make a good cup/bottle holder?
.....it's just you !!!!! :p and NO I am not dying it pink either !!

...that is the hope.... I have mentioned this plan around the house enough that the concept has almost been normalised ;). Neighbour came over night before last and was heard to say out loud 'are you allowing that to remain in the house"... I then had to describe the coffee table in detail so as to counter her negativity...!

Those crocs sure have a set of choppers!
.....depends if they are wrapped around your arm/leg at the time ;)

.....they did mate, back in the pic thread you see a couple of guys in dugouts that paddled up as we were getting him up the bank, they stopped specifically to thank us !

Yeah I grew up in Durban, we had them in the rivers.
Up in Northern Natal near the St Lucia estuary there are a lot of Salt Water Crocs. There was a famous case of a man who disappeared while fishing. When the cops got to his caravan the rods were still up and everything was untouched but you could see in the sand that a Salt Water Croc had come out of the water while the bloke was sleeping and dragged him in. His "butterfly" arm movements were still in the sand.

This spot is fun to fish....

....I have some pics I took of Mrs andy with her first ever Barramundi catch standing about where that old pic of the attack victim was taken (but at low tide). I kept saying back, back....back a little further....the penny dropped when I started calling.....here croc croc croc....the fish nearly hit me in the head....

I also have some pics I took (alive and in the wild) of "Michael Jackson" before he ate the fisherman...
