I hate trappers unless it has one straight-edged blade like a sheepfoot or a wharncliffe. The regular configuration is stupid to me.
...that's why I finished with "to me".The typical trapper configuration of a clip and a spey makes perfect sense for what it was meant for. You know...trapping.
"Well, that's just...like...your opinion, man."
I like some better than others, but I don't hate anything but "canoes". (Though I do enjoy canoeing.)
Hey now, Nessmuk didn't pick a barlow for his woodsman's trio. Maybe he had his reasons.Good to finally understand your preferences, even if they are horribly misguided.![]()
With canoes, it's obviously different strokes for different folks.I'll abide that. Maybe I'm just to lazy to figure out which end to use when I pull it out of my pocket.
TBH I've seen more cowboys carrying trappers and actual trappers carrying a stockman ... go figure. The typical trapper configuration of a clip and a spey makes perfect sense for what it was meant for. You know...trapping.
Forgive me, I was stretching the truth in the interest of humor.I personally could never use the word hate for any traditional pattern knife. There are some I prefer more than others, as does everyone here I am sure.
I apologize if I sounded judgemental, I did not mean to be. Canoes happen to one of my least favorite patterns as well.Forgive me, I was stretching the truth in the interest of humor.
So, to clarify..."canoes" are one of several patterns I have never had an interest in purchasing. But I don't hate them, and no canoes were sunk in the making of this post. Though they may have needed minor repairs.
There. I think that should bring both clarity and absolve me of any sins.

You have never carried an Elephant Toenail in a pair of running shorts then.I personally could never use the word hate for any traditional pattern knife. There are some I prefer more than others, as does everyone here I am sure.
I like Jacks, but I prefer Jacks with a layout that puts both nail nicks on the same side of the knife.

Case does not do that with their Jacks, though that is a normal layout for a Trapper.
Queen used to do that with their Jacks.
