After decades I've figured out I hate jack knives.

I prefer jacks and stockmans. And on a stockman.... if’n I was to omit a blade it’d be the sheepsfoot. The spey is the blade I use the most.

A good Jack, square bolsters, carbon blades. That’s where it’s at. I need a 92 Jack to satisfy an itch I ain’t been able to scratch otherwise.

I agree- blades on each end is the best way! I do have some Jack patterns I like (our bunny knife comes to mind) but most of my often used knives are either single blades or have blade(s) at each end.

"Well, that's just...like...your opinion, man."

I like some better than others, but I don't hate anything but "canoes". (Though I do enjoy canoeing.)

I'll abide that. Maybe I'm just to lazy to figure out which end to use when I pull it out of my pocket.

I personally could never use the word hate for any traditional pattern knife. There are some I prefer more than others, as does everyone here I am sure.
Forgive me, I was stretching the truth in the interest of humor.

So, to clarify..."canoes" are one of several patterns I have never had an interest in purchasing. But I don't hate them, and no canoes were sunk in the making of this post. Though they may have needed minor repairs.

There. I think that should bring both clarity and absolve me of any sins.

I apologize if I sounded judgemental, I did not mean to be. Canoes happen to one of my least favorite patterns as well.

I like Jacks, but I prefer Jacks with a layout that puts both nail nicks on the same side of the knife.

Case does not do that with their Jacks, though that is a normal layout for a Trapper.
Queen used to do that with their Jacks.

They are just broken stockmen. Just think of the use those two springs could have put too. Wasted potential if you ask me.
